Fantastic video. I did this job today on a 2005 Highlander 2 Wheel Dr. I was able to jack up the engine/transmission one side at a time and get the bottom motor mounts out without removing the swaybar or disconnecting the steering rack. Went pretty smooth thanks to this video. Much appreciated.

god I love KZbin so much. thank you for helping me save $1200. btw y’all, in the 2WD 4 banger models you just need to remove the nuts for the side (one at a time) and front engine mounts to get enough clearance. no steering components need to be removed. love the auto DIY community on KZbin. have a nice life everyone.

So, I just did this job. I had a "fortunate" stroke of luck. When doing the driver's side the motor mount disintegrated. Since I didn't have the parts on hand and instead let the driver's side of the engine down onto the frame rail so i could keep moving. The lucky part was that with the driver's side lowered, I was able to go over and do the passenger side without having to disconnect the sway bar or the rack. Once I got the new mounts, I put in the passenger side first and it all worked slick as pig snot. Whole job in 5 hours.

Helped me out today on a 2wd Highlander. I realized the motor needed to come up a little, but couldn't quite get it high enough. Watched the video and realized I needed to take off the nuts on the front motor mount. As soon as I did, the motor raised up just enough for me to slide out the mount on the driver's side. I had tried lowering the subframe by about an inch on that side. On the passenger side I I didn't loosen the subframe, and I had to use the prybar as depicted in the video to get the mount out.

Fantastic video. Local shop wouldnt even provide a quote because "The service manual states that the engine and transmission need to come out and it's about a 15 hour job." I wonder what the total time was for this repair. 🤔 Raising the engine is an elegant solution, I'll probably be embarking on this journey soon, my bushings are shot and are taking the tires with them.

Great Video. Will this process work with the Hybrid model 07 AWD?

Did you remove both side mounts or just the one side you replaced the control arm on? What if you’re replacing both control arms? Can you remove both side motor mounts at same time or will that cause subframe to come down?

Do I have to use a pole jack to raise the engine or could I get by with my regular old hydraulic floor jack?

Nice, I have 2 wheel drive and I don’t think I have differential , can I jack the oil pan instead using wide thick wood?
@raultineo7722 жыл бұрын
You need a piece of wood between the jack and the engine pan so it doesnt get damaged.

Why would you heat up the nut for the sway bar when you could have just taken a impact and a wrench and driven it out?
