How to Replace Front Struts on a Hyundai Equus (2011-2016)

Excellent Video! I have 2014 Signature and I just went through this process this past weekend. I changed out both struts and vehicle did not rise to the occassion. I read that if, you change both struts the system will have to be recharged. Which I didnt know at the time. I would recommend changing one strut, follow the instructions in this video and then moving on to the second strut. The compressor will only pressurize the strut if, there is air in the system. Not to criticize your work because you did a fantastic job. The vehicle should be lifted when inflating strut, to prevent binding or pinch the bag inside of the strut.

How did you get your car to air up again?

@Stillaknickfan I had to take it to Hyundai dealership to have the front system refilled with air. They have a special nozzle that attaches to the refill valve. I attempted to do it myself with a standard air compressor but, had no luck with that.

I pinned this. If I had this exact issue I planned on bringing the car to a air and hydraulic fitting specialist I work with and making a air fitting, but I’m glad you figured it out. Do you have a price on how much they charged so others know what to expect?

@@reedma7900 check out my latest video, I came up with a work around for the fill port as my car completely fell too and wouldn’t pick up. The nearest genesis dealer is 3 hours and I wasn’t gonna tow it.

I’m a heavy equipment mechanic. I like videos because sometimes there’s a tip, or a trick, that you wouldn’t learn doing it yourself solo. There are no good videos, and I think one putting those quick struts, and I don’t like that stuff I didn’t buy the car for regular suspension lol. Thanks for the compliment!

Im pretty quick about answering as is, but if I get enough of the same question I might. To answer your question, there is a reason I am fighting to maintain the air suspension. The strut master kit is extremely disappointing, it makes the car ride like a Camry. If you don’t care about ride quality then you should’ve bought a Genesis G80 with the V8. I used a company called SHOCK masters. They rebuild the air struts.

I worked on my 2015 Equus today, and I was out of luck . The passenger side airbag was full with air and I couldn't put it on. On the driver side I managed to take the vent off and pump some air out manually that would help me install it easier but no luck with the other one. Maybe I got some cheap low quality airbags from Amazon.

Do you still have the car? have any other issues occurred? I did my rear springs about 4 months ago and now my front went out so I’m going through this process this weekend. Do you mind answering what mileage your car has mine is at 124k. Great video by the way.

Yes I still have it, I’ve had a few issues. Most I took care of without filming as other videos exist. I’ve had to replace the alternator twice, the passenger valve cover gasket, all the air springs, the rain sensor, and the passenger rear door speaker.

Could be your level sensors or your struts I changed one level sensor and both my struts and my car went back to normal

Thanks for the info and product review. I’ve read the same quality issues. I’m not there NOW, but that day will come when it slams down. Leaning more toward the RMT reman so far. Keep those EQUUS videos coming. You’re alone in that market with up to date content.

@@user-ft1dq4he9b adaptive damping issues, meaning the car defaults to the harshest settings. Ended up using the parts to rebuild the OE struts. You need to make sure that the shock portion of the strut, is Hyundai. Bag doesn’t matter, if they send you something else it’s junk.
