I have a 2013 Silverado, this video was helpful up to the part of the yellow clip on the door handle rod, it's completely different from the one in the video. Mine was larger and it opens towards the outer door skin opposite of the one in the video, couldn't tell at first how to open it but once opened I thought at first I broke it but nope, hope this helps someone with the same yellow clip

Just did this project. A couple of things. 1. Although every bolt was a 10mm the length and type of bolt varied so when removing them keep that in mind. 2 as soon as you get the foam shield out of the way, styiff a couple of rags in the inside bottom of the door. It will stop dropped bolts and sockets heads from going all the way to Narnia. 3. My 2013 yellow clip opened in the opposite direction. Brute force worked to open. 4. Do take the yellow clip off, but I did not have to remove the key bar (red clip). Once the bolts were off the back of the handle, i could remove the lock clip and leave the lock in the door for the new handle.

At 5:47 you appear to be reattaching the big silver stamped steel plate - but never showed removing it earlier. Was that removed for a reason? I have watched this video numerous times and, while it did help me tremendously in removing the door panel on my 2012 GMC Sierra, when I took off the door handle, my door handle is completely different than the one in your video. I have taken pictures and will try to attach them to show you where mine is different. First of all, my door handle has an extension that fits into the door. I looked at my other door handle and apparently nothing attaches to the extension so it is apparently to guide the handle and keep it straight. Secondly, my door lock is not in the door handle but is inside the door. After trying to figure how it all goes together, I am can't seem to figure it out. If you have any other videos that would solve my problem, it would be greatly appreciated if you would put a link to that video. As an alternative, any suggestion from you or other people watching this video would be greatly appreciated. I am not computer savvy so I could not attach the photos.

The price for the handle at A1Auto.com was 48% the price from the dealer. The video is very explanatory to be able to save $225.00 in installation by doing it myself. I will just add to make sure the window is up and the battery is disconnected previous to begin the job (perhaps is common sense).

This handle is for a model with the lock provision. If your vehicle has this you need to replace with the same type of handle. If your vehicle doesn't have the key entry on the handle, you would need to purchase that style. Hope that answers your question! +Misa Mendoza

Do not pull on the upper door panel by the door lock. You notice he was pulling like hell. It's obvious he broke it or almost broke it and someone had to tell him to stop in the video and they didn't want to show that so that's why they skipped to the next step. There is a clip that the door panel has to be lifted off of right below the the door lock. Do not pry or pull out at that location.

Unfortunately your gonna have to remove the door panel and get access to that cable to pop it open...its hard i had to do it on my 2010 silverado....you will have to pull back the upper part of the door panel far enough to get your arm in there to get access to that cable to pop it open...its a pain in the ass trust me but that's the only way i could get mine open because both the interior and exterior door handles broke

It shouldn't be too hard to do. You would need to remove the door panel on the inside, then you should be able to access the bolts holding them on from inside of the door. Unclipping the rods inside the door was not necessary just slide the handle loose from the rod and insert the rod in the new door handle.

Your instructions were good up tell the door cable, you didn’t show how to undo it and I fought with it forever and ended up going to a different video because I couldn’t continue on past that part, so thumbs down.

I started it late. It was getting dark and an ice storm was coming lol. I got the handle for $20.00. Took off panel but could not get cable off so I had limited access. I got the old handle off and partially put new one on, but kept losing the screws and it was getting dark so I set the panel on there and made sure I could get in. I was just agitated. The video was ok to a point that is all I will say I took it to the dealer and they charged me labor $72.00 so total cost $92.00. If I would have gotten a handle from them the handle was probably $100.00 from them.
