Thanks for this clear and complete instruction on how to replace the rear brakes, with good lighting and good camera angles so we could clearly see the work. This is me next week, on my 2005 4Runner.

Really good video. Pretty straightforward I like that included the torque specs and the size of the socket. Because that's exactly what I was after this is going to be my first time working on my Toyota

Glad I stopped to watch this because I am now in the process of doing this same job myself using TRQ rotors and pads I just purchased. I am doing it myself to save a lot of money and to do it right. I very much doubt that any local mechanic would perform all the rust cleaning, caliper greasing and setting the correct torque on the bolts like you showed. Thank you very much for sharing your expertise.

Very helpful video! You need to disengage the emergency brake to get the rotors off. That should be noted as well. Also, be VERY careful of the rubber boot on the slider bolts. If that pops off.. you probably won't be able to get it back in. I spent 30 minutes trying and couldn't get it in. Went and bought the whole dang assembly to get a new bracket with the rubber boot/bushings.

Thanks for the vid. I had to do one today and replace a caliper. The pad was folded up like Tin. The slide tabs were gone too so the caliper was the pad

Would be nice for someone to show how to take off the rear rotor if the star screw thing has to be dialed back. Can’t find any internet videos on that and its the single most frustrating part about changing my rear brakes on my 07 4Runner

"give a little shake to pull rotor off" … me.... beats the everlovin' crap out of rotor and is still stuck....
@deankleinhans1994 жыл бұрын
Can use 2 bolts that thread through front of rotor body as jack-screws to push the rotor off. This helps a lot and saves from having to bang so hard from opposite side. Usually rotor is getting restriction from emergency brake shoes.

@tristanmcpherson33392 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the video but it would have helped to mention you need to tension the parking brake before removing the rotor. Just broke by parking brake assembly trying to take off the rotor while it was still attached because i thought it was only held on by the calipers

That's a bummer. That's why I usually try to watch a few videos on the same topic because there's always information left out in some of them.

@stevenshane49432 жыл бұрын
Outstanding video. I assume the other pads are for the parking break and never wear out.
@artincorona2 жыл бұрын
Are you supposed to put grease on the ends of the pads where they will slide on the clips?

I grease the clips the brakes slide on and both tips of the pads.

Any idea where I could find the rubber boots? Also, are the mounting bolts for the front/rear calipers the same?
@Texasflycaster4 жыл бұрын
Ok, here's the problem. My 2005 apparently has these clips that stop pad chatter. I don't see them anywhere in this video, and did not see them on my brakes - - - until after I had put everything back together and they were laying there on the bench. There were brand new ones that came with my NAPA brake pads, but I just thought it was for a different application. What is the scoop? Do I have to break the whole thing down again just to put these clips in?
@koriseitz26293 жыл бұрын
You sure they weren’t for the front? This video was rear.
