I found it cheaper and easier to replace both steering knuckles then replace the wheel bearings. Set of knuckles are only $120ish with the bearings already installed. The wheel bearing tool is $120 itself not including the bearings and hardware, plus it's a pain to remove and install press in bearings.

How do you get the bearing out of the old knuckle and into the new knuckle? You just cut that part!

Do not bash the axle, with or without a nut. The nut will damage all threads it was on. Just beat the knuckle down off the Strut and the axle will come.

I use a big dead blow hammer like 6 lbs all day long at a dealership

Own a 03 Focus and many years ago had a flat on I 75. Had to kick and kick and kick to get tire off. Next day took all 4 off had to use a sledge hammer. I put bearing grease on flat of hub fixed cold weld of wheels. Now no problem to change wheels.

So on the 09 there is a slightly different clip that goes over the ball joint to the pinch bolt . Is that just for protection of the boot mostly . Cause I replaced a lower arm and it didn’t come with a clip.

Is the only reason for the pinch bolt lower ball joint clip just to cover the boot . It’s not like a rattle clip or a lock

I had to take my car to alignment shop 3 times and still alignment is off. Today i looked at my knuckle and instead of having two 22mm bolts holding the knuckle. It has a 24mm bold instead off 22mm bolt. So i think either the old seller shredded the thread on the bolt hole. And put a 24mm instead of 22mm. Maybe my knuckle is damaged? Idk. Im thinking should i buy a new steering knuckle?

Am I correct that if I have a wheel bearing problem/noise the knuckle has the bearing pressed in ready so I avoid needing a press which I don't have?

As far as I can tell all of the front knuckles are all the same 2000-2004. A trick I often use is to look up used parts for a given year and trim on ebay. Sellers will often list all compatible years or trims that the part will work with. Check and see if the trim you're pulling from is compatible with the car you need a part for using seller listings as a cross reference. Poor mans shop catalog

Mk2 was a 2004+ trim, could have been a transition year for them so even if it's a 2004 Mk2 don't assume it's compatible. Do some research and you'll figure it out.
