What else should we consider replacing as well? Is there any rubber gaskets etc thats easy to swap while it’s all disassembled?
@chucksmoko53483 жыл бұрын
On this model when doing the right side turn the steering to the right and you don’t need to undo the top ball joint and it will come out from the back. Turn steering left to remove the left side strut.

I can confirm that this does in fact work! Didn't have to mess with the top ball joint at all! 2007 honda accord special edition

I just did this job using this video and the comments for guidance. Just to elaborate on one of the other comments - if you turn the wheel to the left for the left side and right for the right side, the strut will come out towards the BACK of the car without any problems. You won't need to separate the upper control arm

coz of u I stopped going to any workshops I do everything in my Honda at home after, just watching your video and the party started immediately in my yard, respect from Egypt.

3:13 Thanks for the video FYI There is room to remove the strut without removing bolt to control arm. Just changed them today 2007 accord. While I lowered strut and lift suspension up a little the strut will continue to fall past that area. With a little rotating of strut to get under/past sensor line. I held strut at slight angle, while lifting strut, i was able to get it out no problem. Before I started I Also took time to mark ride level of center of wheel onto edge of door with tire still on ground to have a reference point for hight to lift suspension with jack before tightening bottom wishbone bolt. Used a long ruler level and painters tape. used center of hub and tape on edge of door to make straight level line while holding level ruler. Once ruler was level I knew I raised suspension with jack to correct hight.

Good video. I found a video that showed raising the suspension a few inches gives plenty of room to remove/install the strut assembly. Mine was up on jack stands so I used the car’s jack under the rotor to raise it. Worked like a charm and didn’t have to mess with the control arm.

When torquing down the bolts on any bushings make sure to lift the suspension as if the weight of the car was on it on the side youre doing it. This in turn after tightening the bolts will prevent any premature wearing to the bushings. The way you can do it is to use a floor jack if doing it at home and lift the knuckle nice and high. Then tighten your bolts.

Awesome video, straight to the point and not dragging on. I will be replacing with a strut assembly from a junkyard just temporarily, I just finished having the transmission, alternator, and starter replaced so my budget Is very limited. The 1A strut looks good, I will be buying the front pair soon.

After a couple of warnings on the state inspections, I had to undo most of the same lower joints to drop the lower control arms to replace their rear bushings on my Honda Accord which is notoriously cracked after 7 years and 65K miles. I also replaced the stabilizer links as well because it starts to have some weakness at the joints. This video is very well done with all the necessary steps to replace the strut assembly on the 7th Gen Accords. She also nicely spell out all the torque specs on the nuts and bolts so you don't have to guess and break them when trying to put them back in because they are not all the same. I think this is easier than the back strut assembly job that I did on my Accord, but the biggest problem on the front strut assembly would be to break loose these rusty bolts and nuts without breaking them permanently. I did notice she snuck in a new upper control arm during installation, probably because the old upper joint is bad. These parts have to be ordered and are not always in stock even at Honda dealers, so you are stuck if you break them. I'd use liquid wrench to soak these rusty nuts and bolts before trying to crack them. This car also have new lower control arm, stabilizer bars and stabilizer links replaced. I cringed when she dropped the tires from 3-4 ft off the ground. It could bounce back and hit you in the chest or worse bend the wheel rim if it lands on the side. She should have lower the car to remove the wheels and lift it back up to work on the strut removal. I also noticed that the new nuts for the upper strut assembly are non standard sizes. I'd reuse the old nuts from the car rather than changing to non standard nut sizes. Finally, after you change the strut assemblies either in front or rear, you need to get the car wheel realigned at the shop to make sure the suspension geometry is back to specs.

They actually use this car on several videos. There's one video where she replaced just the upper control arm and a second one where she replaced just the lower control arm. It's done to save time and not have to do it over and over especially if you've got the suspension taken apart. I also doubt the old nuts would work on the new parts. I agree they should be the same size, but it looks like they aren't

Great video, just might have to do this one by myself (given I'm paying Honda to replace my starter today, ouch… they mentioned the front struts are leaking a little and they gave me a price for that too, ouch ouch) I wonder what that electronic torque wrench is, the one being used at 6:42 for example… want something like that that beeps. (And hopefully doesn't need to be re-calibrated…) Anybody know? (My (very) old Sears torque wrench was useless when I tried to use it for a trivial task (spark plugs) [fortunately my car's manual had a no torque wrench workaround specified in it, so at least the other three are in there right-ish (hah)].)

Great video. I am currently replacing the struts on my wife's car and I'm using the pre-assembled struts and was wondering if after installing the strut assembly do you have to torque the rod nut, and do you tighten up the bearing plate upper nuts with the car on the air or with all tires on the ground? Thank you for your help.

dont need to undo the strut mount thats so much extrea work just push the shock to stock hight and get it on the max angle you can, then turn the shock like a giant screw and the spring that is the part that gets stuck on things will act like a massive thred and sqrew right out same with the reinstal.

I replaced all four on one of my cars In the past and I didn't need to get an alignment down afterwards. I think that matters If your car Isn't straight afterwards. Or replacing the tie rods that are connected to the actual parts that get aligned.
@beast111355 жыл бұрын
Just googled It. Some cars need It but If your car Is aligned fine still you can wait until you get new tires to align the car again.
