What was the total cost for all of these ( starter , ac compressor shot , replaced ignition switch ,good wiper motor ,and blower.)? I'm looking at a 2010 CRV right now, but it I'm afraid it may have some if not all of these issues that might need to be replaced.

It speaks volumes to Honda’s dedication to reliability that these problems are such trivial things. Nothing like what you’d expect with a similar model year Ford Escape or Mazda CX-6. The RAV4 and the CR-V are crossover kings.

I had a 2008 that made it to 200k miles. The ac was replaced but none of the other issues. It was in great shape, but the thing that took it out was rust. Rust I couldnt even see. It was up above the gas tank. The rest of the car was in such good shape I didnt believe the dealer and got a second opinion. They agreed it was un-repairable. As a side note, I have ordered a bunch of stuff from 1A Auto. Always been happy with them.

I'm a retired ASE master, My wife has a 2007 CRV that was bought new, this vehicle has never given us a single problem until about a year ago the A/C became intermittent. When I retired I promised to never touch a car again. After a repair shop relieved us of 1200.00 for an A/C evaporator, I decided to diag and repair myself. After replacing underhood relays, a lot of internet research told me I needed to replace the compressor. At 68, replacing the compressor was a real chore, but I refuse to let a shop tell me, "We only use HONDA parts", I was not going to pay 800 bucks for a compressor, I'm no idiot, I know the shop charges me for a dealer compressor, then they pay 299.00 for compressor from a local parts store. I bought a new compressor off of Amazon for 194.00, I still have all of my gauges, vacuum pump and other required tools. I spent more time getting the belt off and on than I did replacing the compressor. Now, everything's cool. The CRV has just turned 100k. The only thing I hate is the vehicle is so loud, carrying on a conversation at highway speeds is like having all the windows down. I hate to take trips in it. My Kia is quieter than a library. This year the CRV will be leaving us for something newer. I hope I get a good amount for trade in.---------------Thanks for informative video.

Swindon manufactured crv 2.2. very reliable car. Never had a single issue of those warned about. I just had EGR valve cleaned out which needs to be done to make it run with better efficiency and idling. All done for £70. I really recommend this be cleaned every 80k miles. They are a bargain second hand in uk. The spec is great.

Have a 2010 AWD. Bought at 140,000kms. Now has 200,000kms. Had to replace an AC compressor not long after I bought it. That sucked. My power steering works fine but the pump howls under acceleration. Replaced a belt tensioner. Blower motor did intermittently stop working a few times but the problem hasn't come back since it started doing it about 1 year ago. After 4 years of ownership, not too bad. But still doesn't compare to a Toyota. Honda quality has slid. I've owned many of both and the quality shows. The Honda's are no bad car by any stretch. But if I were buying again, rather get the RAV4. I hate how the CRV drives. Seriously not enough power. I do like the Honda's features and interiors a lot more than the incredibly boring Toyota though. I huge reason why I chose the Honda this time. But for full out reliability, the Toyota is simply the better choice.

Former CRV owner. I am really familiar with the AC compressor problem. Mine was a bad clutch. 3,000 dollars at Westshore Honda. 800, maybe a grand diy. You have to remove the front bumper to replace the condensor. Not an extremely hard job, although I have done easier ones. I am not even a mechanic. CRV's are extremely reliable.

08 CR-V starter went out last year on vacation the day before coming home. You can't get anything to the starter to beat on it because it's way too low, aggravating to get to laying on the ground but not impossible. Since then I have installed a 2 inch lift, bigger tires and not much problem crawling around under it now and it looks super sweet

Question on #2, starter motor - is the symptom of a failing starter motor similar to a car battery with low cranking power? My daughter’s 2008 CRV didn’t start after she drove it to get lunch. While she was waiting over an hour for AAA to arrive for a jump, she tried again and it started. Any opinions on this would be great.Thanks.

My door locks on the passenger side of the vehicle stay locked but unlock with the key fob, I had to replace the starter about 3-4yrs ago. I'm at 230k and I plan on running her to the ground. Mine had non of these. Most common thing I change are the sway bar ends and bushings (few dollars each). I guess they suffer a lot. I had the winding noise from the gearbox. It was the broken cement on the main shaft making the noise. Replaced the gearbox with the used one (in total few in the whole Europe). Clutch fins can go on the AC compressor cause they are very thin. Fixed those and that is all in past 7 years. Very reliable machine.

Bought a loaded 2011 CRV last summer, everything was great I remember salesman going over the interior with me, showing me the heater works great, but didn’t both with AC, in my mind I was like “Why didn’t he mention the AC since he just showed me the Heater?”, I just figured everything is fine and it obvious is going to work right. I didn’t even test it when I did my test drive cause it was a rainy cool day. But yeah, my new car had No AC and dealerships said I need to use my warranty on it.

Mine has none of these issues however it does have a bad alternator at almost 200k miles as well as a vibration when accelerating that turned out to be a bad cv bearing. The alternator is random but the cv joint seems to be common and I find odd not to have made this top 5 list. I would think a recall on the cv joint issue but so far no such luck as it is a pain in the ass for the diy kinda guy like myself. Better to bite the bullet and have the whole axle replaced. $75 for the part, labor is all over the place so shop around on this one.

I just bought a 2009 164,000 mile CR-V for my daughter. Pristine condition, but I have dropped $3000 into it already. It wouldn't start one day, ruled out the battery and alternator. Figured it was the starter, notice the starter was already brand new. I am guessing the previous owner replaced it when the real problem was the engine program module. The garage replaced the starter too. AC quit working but it was only the replay. The rack and pinion has a slight leak. I put in some stop leak and it works perfectly. Used cars, even Hondas, need work.

We used to have a 2019 CR-V. After about one year of less-than-usual use, the vehicle would not start. Towed it the local Honda dealer. They started right up. And we were able to start it up there. After coming home, we shut the engine down and tried to start again. After going back and for numerous times and a month less, and after experiencing the so-called service attitude, we towed it to the dealer, amazingly it started there again. We then kept it running for a few hours and traded it in to another Honda vehicle. Less than a month later we traded that newer Honda vehicle in for a different brand name vehicle and swore we would never buy a Honda again. We know Honda survives without us, and we also learned we can go about without Honda.

That was great, your opening was the AC compressor. I'm at 298,*** miles and on 2nd compressor. And also the locks, Not a big deal but definitely 2 outta 5 issues.

I owned Hondas for years. Unfortunately the quality and reliability of components are extremely poor. 2009 Honda CRV had inherent AC condenser problem and there was factory recall. Mine broke after the miles guaranteed and had to change condenser and heating core for >$3,000. After one year compressor failed again. Service station suggested replace AC compressor and when I showed it is under warranty, a day after the agents says that the compressor is perfect and that they have to replace condenser. Another >1,000 expense. After replacing the condenser the AC is not working and now I can’t drive the CRV due to over heating. The service agents provided resolution by replacing many other parts >$2,000. I had to spent approx $4,000 per year for last three years to keep it on road. The value of the CRV is

How about the issue with this generation burning oil up around 80k miles? This is the generation listed under 'years to avoid' for the CRV if you google it. Honda/Toyota owners (I've owned both) tend to have 'brand-loyalty-blinders' on sometimes. This is what keeps the prices so high.

P.S. I would love to see you mention something about a rough estimate of the price to replace the parts, plus labour. Thanks again.

Rear suspension attachment points on the unit body / floorpans rot out, especially on the passenger side in the rustbelt. Canada got a recall. US got diddly. It's cool tho, thats how I got one with 113,000 miles for $400. I got a MIG welder. Should make a fine winter beater.

My 2011 Honda CR-V (AWD) works fine at 121,896 miles BUT that dadburn AC keeps on quitting on me and my date when it gets really hot and we need it the most! Thanks for confirming that Honda CRV AC’s are known for quitting when the going gets hot. My date quit on me, too. I may get a Toyota on the next one. Maybe it’ll stay cool when the weather outside heats up. (And maybe this time she’ll stay?)

You didn’t mention the saggy suspension springs or door lock actuators that will go out. The AC problem is usually just the AC clutch. Shops will usually want to do the whole compressor because it’s an expensive job.

My door lock actuator was dying and unlocking my driver side rear door… got robbed in my carport! Took another few weeks for me to figure out how they got in without breaking anything. (I was freaked out by the thought maybe someone had snuck up and opened a door while I was walking away, before I locked it over my shoulder.) Learned years later there was some kind of memo or voluntary recall on the actuators?

The recall expired in 2015. There's multiple videos on fixing these actuators and I've done both front ones now, and at 245k miles. Right rear is next!

I recently had an AC clog in either my expansion valve or my condenser dryer. Ended up replacing both. It fixed the problem but then it started leaking refrigerant. At first it was the o-rings. Fixed that. Still leaking. I’m putting a new Evaporator in it tomorrow and if that doesn’t fix it I’m giving it to the dealership

Just discovered this channel - nice content! I have a 2011 honda crv and its AC condenser cooling fan broke. I bought a after market fan from 1A auto and it works - pricing is nice! The product looks to be solid built. The crv currently has 150k miles -will be on the look out for these problems down the road.

i still have my 2010 honda crv. The only thing i don't like about this vehicle is the vibration at a stop light. The vibration goes through my entire seat. But when I turn my wheel, the vibration temporarily stops. This was the same issue with my 2010 honda civic. But overall, I have not had any major issues with the vehicle. I have 143000 miles on it now. Thumbs up if you are getting this common issue on your crv.

Valve lash adjustment if not already done, and transmission software update (really helps smooth things out), could be worn motor mounts too. I'd look into the transmission and engine software updates, it may help stabilize idle.

The radiator lower cushions are worn, making the radiator touching the body and the vibration goes all the way inside the car to your seat.
