Excellent video. Followed step by step and had it done in 3 1/2 hours. I was slowed down by difficulty removing the 3 screws on the actuator but mostly when installing the new actuator. I finally colored the small plastic peg that the actuator has to catch on with red sharpie pen so I could clearly see it. I used a mirror to do the job but would have probably benefited from a remote cam. Much thanks to Brian for the video. There is no way I could have done this without it.

The two screws that actually hold down the actuator in place must be installed, but for the 3rd screw that holds the security cover, I think it can be omitted.@@HowtoAutomotive

Thanks for the how-to video step-by-step tutorial. Was able to replace the driver side door on my 2005 Acura MDX. Took me just under 2 hours compared to the 9+ minutes length of your video trying to make sure I was careful and not being overly aggressive when pulling things apart. Good stuff.

Thank you Brian for an amazing tutorial! I was able to DIY fix the annoying dead door lock in my 2004 MDX in 2 hours for $25 compared to the dealers $400. It really makes you feel awesome when you can fix something yourself with the right instructions!

@@HowtoAutomotive One tip I would add is when reinstalling the window track slightly lower the window an inch or so and use the glass to "guide" the the track into it's recess since you'll be doing it all by feel. -Retired Acura Tech

Can’t thank you enough for this video. Both my front doors needed this part. Got the pair for $100CAD and got into the job today. Passenger door slightly easier than driver’s side, but almost identical process. I found that getting the “anti-jimmy” part back on was difficult, thanks to brittle plastic. On the driver’s side, I just discarded it. I doubt anyone will try steal a 2005 MDX. At least I hope not, I love her so much! So great to have my remote key working fully again. Thank you!!!!

Got a question so both my passenger side front and rear door doesn’t lock or unlock but when I use the switch on the front passenger side it lock/unlock only the drive side doors do u think I still need to change the actuators?

Howdy! I know the video says the process is the same for left and right doors, but I just wanted to make sure the driver's door doesn't have any additional steps? I started trying to take the door handle off and it didn't work as easily as the other doors, so I didn't want to continue prying without making sure all the connections are the same. Thanks!

Best thing instead-of replacing is to remove actuator and disassemble contact clan motor .. remove gear at base and throw out spring reassemble ya get 5 more years out of them lol spring does one thing we’re out the motor … so time or money take your pick be a mechanic or a parts changer lol

Hey Mr. Eslick. Thanks for the video. I have a 2007 mdx and my door sometimes open with the remote control, but most of the time only the driver side open. All four doors some time open when I use the driver side door panel. the big issue im having with this is that when the doors go into it not opening mode, both the doors and the window will not open or role down; including the trunk. Do you think this is a lock actuator problem? If so, Do I need to change all four actuator or can I only change the driver which is the master side and everything else will be fix? Thanks

On my 2000 Acura TL I had to replace the L rear door handle. I wasn't sure what the problem was so I went through a process of discovery. I found it very difficult to see the actuator but did loosen the actuator and the lock together. At that point I found the handle was broken on the plastic lever that pushed down on the lock. There was a hole drilled in the plastic and the break came right through that hole. I suspect it has been the cause of many broken handles. In order to get to the actuator I actually pulled the whole assembly out through the empty space where the door handle was positioned. After cataract surgery I just could not see inside that door. Removing the door handle was easy compared to removing the actuator when inside the door. Not sure if it will work for you in your situation but it worked for me.

Did a dry run of this at a junk yard before taking the panels off of my car. Ain’t kidding getting the screws out of the actuators can be difficult. Anyway, scored right and left front actuators. They look to be ok, got them from the vehicle I was taking parts from for about $14. Hopefully, it fixes my door lock issues this coming weekend. Can’t lock or unlock front doors with the fob but can lock and unlock all doors with the driver side switch, except for passenger door. I can also lock and unlock all doors with key, except for passenger door (have to push down security tab on that door to keep it locked or unlocked), but I can unlock and lock passenger door and rear passenger door with front passenger door switch.

Perfect instructions. I feel like I have a new car. I can open the doors again without having to roll the window down or crawl through the back to reach the manual locks. Very disappointed with the Acura dealerships. They’re much more interested in selling me a new car instead of maintaining the one they sold to me years ago. But, their mechanics love the old ones for their own. Hmm.....

Sir I was wondering if you could help me? I've been having trouble with my automatic locks. First when I pushed the button on my key nothing happened so had to manually insert key to open, it happened with both sets of keys. So went and got two new sets as I thought battery had run out. It worked great for about 3 months, then stopped working. Then suddenly worked again for about 3 weeks. Then the actuators seized on drivers and one of the rear doors, replaced those, then automatic locks worked again for about 4 weeks then stopped and haven't worked since. This has happened over a period of two years. Do you have any ideas what is going on? Help would be greatly appreciated. Also I have been wanting to put electric windows into my rear doors with after market parts and running the switch to my middle console, where my front electric windows switch is situated. Would appreciate if you could do a vid on how this is done.
