2007 and up is a completely different truck. 05 and 06 the filter is inside the tank, so the info in this video is only good for 2000 - 2004

Same for my 2008 Tundra 5.7L. The filter is in the gas tank with the fuel pump. Nice going Toyota. 😤

A humble suggestion for all 2000-09 Tundra owners. Look for the fuel filter that this video is demonstrating BEFORE you buy a new filter. If yours is a late 2004 and up, it probably will NOT have an external filter!

Thanks for making this comment, I thought someone had removed my fuel filter before I bought it, replacing it with just tubing. I even called the dealership trying to get the part so I could put it back on, after 15 minutes on the phone I came back to this video and saw your comment! I am now relieved of this job haha

Think the title has wrong years. The outside filters ended with the 2004 Tundra line. My lines were all rusted up so I soaked them overnight with acetone-brake fluid mix to help "loosen them up". Why not pull the fuel pump fuse then the engine until the Tundra runs out of gas. This will run the gas line dry. Then you can disconnect and not worry about collecting any gasoline still in the line.

Use common sense...you don't have to disconnect the battery everytime you breathe and even if it's a question it takes less time to disconnect the battery then to post a question here on whether you should.

Toyota deleted the external filter on some first gen Tundra's. My 05 DC has a jumper hose where the filter used to be. You'll need to drop the fuel tank to change it, or you can add a generic one, can't see how that would help though.

Sorry' Wrong-- In 2005 Toy joined today's plastic tank crowd and now tank rust is no longer an issue. Meaning 2005-up Tundras no longer have external/inline fuel filters at all, only the screen filter inside the tank like many other vehicles. So' be extra sure to avoid fueling up while station pumps are being filled by tankers as it stirs all the crap up off the bottom of the ground tanks and you get it.

Will truck waste more gas with old filter ? My tundra 2000 been wasting more then it use 2 just for turning it on and letting it warm up feel is wasting my gas any help wath it might be also I noticed the ac or heater is on even tho it's on of I feel a lil air come out if I put it on cold is cold air if I put hot warm air comes out could that be the reason I'm wasting 2 much gas I need advice any help ?? So currently having troubles getting my truck started I’m hoping it isn’t the fuel pump an it’s just vapor locked but I can’t find the valve to release it any where. It’s not on the fuel rail an I followed the lines all the way back to the pump can someone help plz

I have a 2005 sr5 and there is no fuel filter where you indicate it is supposed to be. There is also no indication that there was ever one there I suggest that you change your heading to reflect just the year of your truck not the broad range of years you have indicated. at the moment it is very misleading.

Open the holding bracket and loosen the line clamps before you take the lines off the filter and you'll minimize fuel loss. Also, gas is highly flammable, don't get any on you, you are in danger when doing this. Have an escape route and class B fire extinguisher at hand.

Thanks. For the quick response as well. I was surprised to see you do that. I tried it some time ago, (on a mid-80s Ford PU maybe?) and got a face full of high pressure gas. Since then I've always had someone else change them. Now - no fear (on a Tundra anyway).

This does not include 2007, 2008, or 2009. The fuel filter on these years are located inside the fuel tank. Misleading title. Should be 2000-03? I even heard the ‘04’s were inside the fuel tank
