Great! Do you know if this sensor also provides input to the "fuel management control units", whatever it's called?

No. For fuel mixture, ECM will take the water temp, and intake air temp. You can check very simple.

Hello Jim. I have a 2014 focus st with a bad ambient air temperature sensor for the a/c. The mirror is for the temp on the radio and reads correctly. The a/c has no idea what the temp is. Do you know where that sensor is located. According to ford it is in the front area but they have no idea. If you can help would be appreciated. Thanks

Pretty sure it's the same one, it uses data from the aat sensor for the auto climate

Note: On our 2016 5-Door the thermometer is on the right-hand mirror. I wouldn't expect the part number shown in the video to be the same for those of us needing passenger side replacements. Our local dealer suggested finding one at a wreckers. A new one here in Ontario, Canada would run about $350 + taxes.

Do you think this faulty temperature sensor in the wing mirror would cause my hot air blowers to come on by itself on max heat and max power automatically? I’ve found that this has stated to happen I have a Ford Focus Titanium X 2016

No, I dont think so, as it really just controlls the temp reading you see on the outside temperature and possibly the active shutters on the radiator grill... yours may be something to do with either the module that controls the climate control or the relay etc but without looking and checking it would be impossible to say

I change my mirror, and the new temperature sensor is not showing the right temperature when under 0*C. it adds -10. so if its -6 outside it shows -16, and this affects the AC/Heater to blow alot hotter air into the car... :( @@ALLTHINGSJIM

I just had this malfunction, happened in the last couple of days (at least I noticed). Honestly, if it does not affect anything, I will just leave it be, since you have to replace and dismantle the mirror? I have automatic air conditioning. Does this sensor have anything to do with the climate or not? I presume that the car does not do anything with that info reading it from the passenger mirror, other than show it on the dashboard and Sync for information about the temperature outside?

Unfortunately, it IS connected to the climate control of the car. My outside temp sensor was reading too high, and the heating didn't want to start when I set my comfort temperature.

it is a joke that its not just a 5 minute swap over exchange job instead of having to dismantle parts just to get to the problem. making a 5 minute job into an hour. think ill just ignore the out of sync temperature nd manage instead of goin thru all of that tosh.

Yeah I can see what your saying, I dont think it would take you an hour to do though, takes me around 20 mins. That said if I had this problem although id want to leave it, if the reading is below 14'c youll find your aircon doesnt work / get cold . Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

The sensor if you look at the mirror underneath is the little knob part that sticks out the bottom, and unfortunately cannot be brought seperately

@@HexPOINT peugeot sensor works only like 1 year and you have to change it again. My father in law had that problem.

Note to self… Read the instructions. Just took the whole thing apart, then read that it can’t be changed at all. Waste of time and a waste of money. Thank you Ford 🙄

Unless you're saying the whole mirror assembly has to be replaced just to replace the sensor , this video is piss poor !!!! The capition is "how to replace the outside ambient temp sensor". Your video shows nothing of the sort . Good try though !!!

Perhaps you should try paying more attention before commenting as it clearly says at 0:31 it is part of the mirror assembly and cannot be brought seperately (from a dealer anyway) good comment though, nice try 👍
