How to Replace the String on a Craftsman V20 Weed Whacker

The easiest way to replace a string and spool on a craftsman V20 weed eater. They come pre-wound and ready to throw in there, making the process a lot easier. Make sure to get the right sized string - the string size on the bottom of the line cap often wears off after a lot of use.

Looked up your video cus I couldn’t get the old spool out having the og spool still in 6 years later, yes I should go around the house with the string trimmer more often. I was thinking I had to remove a bolt or something to replace the spool. After watching I grabbed an adjustable wrench and yanked that sob out. Works like new again! Thanks!

@@TheIceColdGarage there are universal head replacements. You can remove the spool head and install a new head with three blades which are supposed to last longer than the regular line.

This is a widespread problem that has to be a design flaw. Everybody sells the same replacement spools, and none of them work. I've decided to return my trimmer and try a different model. I hope you find a solution that works for you.
