Removing and the installing the plastic cam cover is a probably the hardest thing in this job. Thanks VAG for the great design

@@johnblanning2500 patience.. nothing other than trying to wiggle it out without breaking the plastic cover. Follow the steps about the heat shield.

For people doing this on the diesels, not required on petrol models you probably want to open the thermostat and you won’t be able to do that without ODIS, if you don’t you have a good chance to cook the head. You don’t have to but you might want to check the coolant fill quality by pressuring the reservoir to 1.5bar after filling it abit above the plastic line (30mm up) mark the spot, if it drops below 30mm you may have a problem.

@UseTool_EN Does the water pump need to have this electrical sensor? I have a waterpump without it, but it fits. Do I need one with the electrical connector/sensor?

I was about to try this on my Octavia, this is perfect DIY guide together with service manual, but no way I'm going to do this :D (i do lots of basic maintenance on my car including diagnostics) which makes me really mad. I do not trust any shop, including Skoda's, but most probably i will end there watching through their fingers :) otherwise i can see f.e. how the little shield won't be added back etc.

For anyone planning on doing this job, make sure you check the sizes yourself as a lot of the ones mentioned in the video are not correct. Example is the cat sensor is not a 17mm, it's actually bigger? another one is the crank bolt is not an M12 it's actually an M14. Not good as you can strip the bolts if not double checked. Please can you make sure the sizes are correct before giving out false information. Thank you.

The bottom plastic sequence was showed after the damper pulley was installed :D

either 10 years or 210.000km. if you haven't changed you should do it ASAP! cheers

On Skoda Fabia 1.6hdi 2012 i service book say intervall 198 000 km and no time limit, very strange

After your replace when you need to replace again 60.000 km 80 or 120 or 150.000km i have a GATES - Ref: KP15678XS-1 set

This is something that you shouldn't do if you are not 100% sure that you can do it ! And even if you know what you doing, you need to make sure you've got the right tools 👌😎

@@UseTool_EN It did, there is a small mistake in the video tho, when putting all back together, first we put this lower timing cover plastic along with engine carrier, then the crankshaft accessory pulley, not the other way around. Costed me 5 minutes, but no biggie! Video is great otherwise, very well covered. Thank you again!
