Thank you. I’ve been struggling to knock that gear case down on my Maytag. I’ll try the jack tomorrow.

Chip, great repair and video. I often find that bolt that holds the rotor on loose also. When putting the rotor back on I'll put some blue Locktite on it.

Thanks for the tip Shane. I’ll have to do that.

Awesome video. Thanks so much. Is it necessary though to take off the top control panel?
@HarperandKnowlesАй бұрын
Yes, you need to remove it. How else would you get the tub out?

@@HarperandKnowles If he had been successful at driving it out the bottom, would he have been able to not remove the control panel?
@HarperandKnowles13 күн бұрын
That would be very sloppy work indeed. Do it the right way!
@joshjohnson831513 күн бұрын
@@HarperandKnowles I'm not a professional or anything, so could you tell me why that would be sloppy? I have a 4-year-old Maytag Bravos that needs a new transmission. The videos I've seen make it look like I could drive it out the bottom as he does in this video and replace it without taking off the top or removing the tub. If this is possible I'd much prefer to do this rather than risking messing something disassembling more than I need to.
@HarperandKnowles13 күн бұрын
I can’t think of why it wouldn’t work. I really think removing the tub is the easier route though. You need to clean those basket splines and stabbing that shaft back in will probably be a chore. Neither impossible. Let us know what problems, if any, you encounter. Thanks for watching!

Can you do an upgrade on straightening those spin tubes
@HarperandKnowles2 ай бұрын
I’m not sure what you are asking.

I meant an update I'm sorry it was a little fast and I couldn't tell what side you were going from the bedside to the good side or vice versa

You're spin to straightening tool
@HarperandKnowles2 ай бұрын
Oh! Well I’m not straightening the spin tube. I’m pushing against the agitator to push the basket out. So, if you rotate the basket and take notice of where it comes closest to the splash guard then you should push exactly opposite of that point. In other words, if you rotate the basket 180 degrees from that point you can see where you need to push the basket outward enough to even the distance of the basket relative to the splash guard all the way around. If I make another video in the future and do this I’ll try to explain it better.

Use some zip ties to hold your block to your jack it makes the job a little easier.

Another great video Chip! SAE and metric ugh. I enjoy watching the repair. But not a big fan of these newer units. Did you learn all this repairing (and hints) from somebody or schooling. Where's Wally? thx

I learned a lot about the older ones from Mr. Harper and I’m self taught on these newer ones. I read a lot of service manuals and watch a lot of other technician’s videos.

@HarperandKnowles well I find you knowledgeable in your workings. watching you I would probably have to place bolt and screws with it items it goes with when I remove them.and I don't understand when you just force somethingoff. Because of you I fixed a transmission on my kenmore washer.

Lol, thanks for that kind comment! I’m glad your transmission repair went well!

What was the issue with this machine?
@HarperandKnowles2 ай бұрын
The lady told me it wouldn’t agitate. When I checked it out the spin basket wouldn’t move due to failed bearings. I freed it up and you could tell the bearings were gone by the loud roar it made. Thanks for watching!
