Maybe it is a farm store and there are roosters being sold there too. I compete in shooting matches with single action revolvers and whenever I give tutorials on how to operate the weapons, there will always be that one wise ass who will snicker when "cocking the hammer" is being talked about...

Are you all aware of how zippos are caregorized in value by numeric grading? Don't fold the bottom flap over. Remove the brass flint screw and pull it off to pull the cotton out. I recycle flints from bic disposable lighters. Cut them in half with side cutter pliers. Then I use the salvaged flints in my zippo. I keep a spare flint under the bottom cotton flap. Thanks for sharing the wick R&R info in your video.

I have a zippo. over the years I've had a few come live with me for a little while before they moved on to wherever lighters go. I've never had one that invoked a feeling of pride though. I mean it's just a goddamn lighter after all. I've never busted one out and had the ladies suddenly drooling over the damn thing, pushing each other out of the way while screaming, "light mine with that fabulous looking zippo." I think that's probably the plot of a porn somewhere. if not, it could be.

@@TdotSoul i have a similar type of lighter where clicking the button just makes some tiny metal particles fly(no sparks so i assume it doesn't work but i haven't put any fuel in it either though), is that maybe due to bad flint on top of the spring or rusty wheel?

A quick hint of you're replacing a wick that has been cut down to the minimum - use a very small piece of sticky tape to wrap one end of the wick and make it into a smooth point. This will make it easy to insert without unravelling and preventing it from going through the hole cleanly. The taped piece can then be trimmed off.

do i cut through the wiring that run through the wick?
@chriscollins3432 жыл бұрын
When you buy them they all come with like 3 inch wick that is stuffed in. All you need to do is pull on it from the top without fraying it and it will give you more and you can cut the old top off. I took it apart to find that out. Would not pull on it unless you have a new wick handy since you wont really know how much is left in there.

Thanks For the great video. I can now fix my Burt out wick in my Zippo lighter. I now know that cotton balls are what's inside. They might need replacing too. Update. After watching ur video. I grabbed my Zippo lighter. I didn't have any replacement items. I pulled out the cotton. ( It was hard) I separated the fibers and put them back in. I pulled out the wick. ( It was burned and hard at the tip) I cut off the burned part and put it back in. I didn't have Zippo fluid so I used lighter fluid and primed the wick using a q-tip. It still wouldn't work. I found a non working Bic lighter and pulled out the flint. I used nail clippers to cut it in half. I put in the flint and crossed my fingers. I now have a working Zippo lighter. It was given to me a few months ago. I couldn't get it to work. The cotton will eventually need replacing. It wasn't holding the lighter fluid until I separated the fibers. Thanks again.

@ohmbettafish3234 жыл бұрын
I think my Zippo lighter wick hole might be a little smaller than it's supposed to be, because there's more resistance than what I see on the videos.
@Josiahsutton14 жыл бұрын
Sometimes its really difficult to pull it through. If your putting in a new wick try feeding it through the top of the lighter rather than the bottom. If your just trying to trim the wick sometimes its hard to pull it up. If that happens you can take the cotton balls out adjust the wick and cut it then put the cotton back. You can also take the whole wick out and flip it so your using the other end.
