thanks for the info! btw on non vtec b18 there's holes in the cams right behind the cam gears where you can insert a 5mm punch (or a bunch of Allen wrenches in my case, haha) to keep the cams in tdc, but your wrench technique was great!
@rtchow30004 жыл бұрын
this video is great. got his idea using two wrenches to keep the cams from moving the timing marks; one extra idea to keep the belt from slipping off both cams is using two wooden cloth hanging clips on the belt and the two cams gears. this way when you are trying to slip into the water pump, tensioner, and the main shaft gears, the belt will stay in place. i did that and works great.

There should be timing marks on the pulley wheel and a timing pointer on the timing belt cover to use to adjust the timing with light gun. There are videos to show you how this is done. Man I hate to be that guy and you got the job done but I can tell you do not have the Honda service manual. You did everything backwards and wrong. I mean there are so many things you did wrong it's not even funny. First of all you're not supposed to put all that stuff back on top before you put the belt on .You're supposed to put the tensioner on before you put the belt on that way you don't strip out the threads trying to get it on. Then the cams... you don't need those stupid wrenches. There's actually holes in the cams and you're supposed to put Allen wrenches or pins in there and it holds the cams perfectly on the spot. I mean it's right there in the Honda manual LOL. Then you put the belt on completely wrong .it supposed to be in a certain sequence and you did it completely wrong.. it's supposed to go around the crankshaft ,around the tensioner, around the water pump,around the rear side cam gear and around the front side cam gear.If you have the allen tools inserted into the cams it's a really easy . Then you're supposed to put all that stuff on top on. I mean you got it done but you almost ripped out the threads on the timing tensioner and you put everything on backwards.Oh man I hope this stuff doesn't pop off later and leave you stranded on the side of the road.

Thanks for the information but I don’t see a problem the way I did it and if it was wrong the envy would had been damaged and it’s been year car still runnning

Nice video, but a lot of people turn the timing belt 3 teeth counter-clockwise by turning the crank, this puts the right amount of tension on the spring loaded tensioner, which you then tighten. I was getting a noisy distributor when I didn't pull the belt 3-teeth tight, and it went away after I did it over again ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3uon2lpf8eGb7M )
