Thanks for this video. I watched in preparation for replacing my gaskets and the video helped me be confident I was doing it right. Pointing out the bolts in the back was a great help. My replacement went amazingly well!

I'm glad it helped brother. Feels good to help since other KZbin vids have helped me so much.

Very thorough explanation. I like how you describe the other things that you are removing. Some people just say "remove this", "take off that", etc. Thank you!

Awesome video man! Thanks for doing this, no else seemed to have a good one for both right and left covers. About how long would you say it took you?

Start to finish. Probably 3 hours at beer drinking speed.

Nice detailed video....That particular engine looks like its getting it 3rd set of Valve cover gaskets installed as oem is black Blue typically Felpro and Mahle Black.....Nonetheless good stuff, watched as Ive done many Hyundai, Kia and dodge V6 gaskets, have customer dropping 07 Entourage off and on the initial estimate / quote couldn't figure out why Tekmetric labor guide has this 3.8 valve cover gasket job at nearly 4 hours ?!?! which is hour n change more than others

Very interesting, thanks.... Noticed at the outset you mentioned you had oil seeping out from the valve cover gaskets "all over the engine." As you got into this, did you confirm that it leaking from both valve cover gasket areas? I ask as last year my 2009 Sedona (identical engine) died while driving, result of oil seeping out from front valve cover and down over alternator. (ruining it) I saw other guides which suggested the issue more often than not was just the front valve cover, and so I replaced the front valve cover gasket last year, with special attention to trying to seal that notorious uneven mating line between the front chain cover and the main engine. But less than 10k miles later, a lot of seeping again.... including down over the alternator. I'm gearing up to replace the back valve cover gasket this time -- and wondering if I need to redo the front as well. Thoughts?

Thanks for that quick insight, detail, and encouragement. And along the same lines, think I'll change the plugs too while I have that back open. :-)

Hi man, thanks for the tutorial. Did you use RTV along with the gasket?
@jcatzcustoms2 жыл бұрын
I did use rtv on the half circle parts that seal where the timing cover meets the head. I didn't use rtv on the rest of it. You should be able to see where the rtv was from the factory.

What is the part number of gasket that you used? Did you change also the gasket of the manifold and what part number?
@jcatzcustoms2 жыл бұрын
I don't still have part numbers. They were just felpro gaskets from rock auto
