How to reset your garage door keypad pin number

I use a Craftsman 1/2 HP Opener 315 but these are nearly universal for garage door openers. Below are the instructions...
In this video I'm going to show you how to reset your keypad pin number for your garage door as well as how to set a temporary code.
First, go to your garage door opener
Open the light cover panel and press the learn button
a light will turn on and you'll have 30 seconds to enter a new code.
Enter the new pin and press ENTER, your garage door opener light will flash, or if you don't have light bulbs it will click. You have now reset your code.
To set a temporary pin enter your permanent pin and instead of pushing enter push the star key.
Your opener will flash or click 3 times.
Now enter your 4 digit temporary pin and press enter.
The opener will blink or click four times.
Next you can enter the duration for the temporary pin.
Press the number and then either the star for the number of hours or the # sign for the number of times it can be opened.
The opener will blink or click twice.
Congratulations, You're done.

I had no idea I can do a temporary code. Perfect for vacation when you need someone to bring in mail or packages but maybe don’t want to allow access to the home. Thanks for the video direct to the point and as simple as you could’ve made it.

Thanks for this video. I just re-programmed a new remote for my opener today and wanted to use a new code for the keypad. I didn't realize that it's pretty much the same steps as the getting the opener to "learn" a new remote. Note to everyone- to get your opener to "Learn" a new remote- simply press the Learn button, when the button is lit, press your remote and the lights on your opener should blink. That's all it is. New remote is now learned and programmed.

This worked very well! Many thanks! Now, I think I need to mention that my wireless keyless entry suddenly stopped working last week. That is, the code wouldn't work before I re-entered the code today. So, I'm thinking that it's time to switch codes, just in case someone else changed the code so they could enter. Just to be on the safe side, I'm changing the code.
