Question.... What do you use to clean the resin surface? Comment... I have watched many KZbin videos on resin. However , you guys by far have the most beautiful work. Your talents are extraordinary!!

Thank you so much for the comment and compliments! Are you asking what we use to clean the resin surface in between pours or after it is complete?
@ArtistTillDeath
@ArtistTillDeath 6 жыл бұрын
For weekly or monthly cleaning, to maintain the epoxy resin surface, use mineral oil, or Murphy's Oil conservatively. Too much will cause the surface to dull and become hazy. In the event of a major spill, or just for peace of mind, you can also use paint thinner or acetone to clean the surface. You can also use vinegar. Avoid bleach.

Out of all the resin and or epoxy counter projects we’ve watched, this is THE BEST one my family and I have see. We wanted to do this exact project but they were not our style. Y’all made everything easy to understand and the outcome is beautiful. Wow!!! Also do you need that same type of dog to do this? Do you have a link as to where I can get a kujo that would be splendid lol.

Haha best comment ever!! Kujo came from Pom-derosapoms.com but I think you could totally do just as lovely of a countertop without one lol

Love it!! I did my countertops last summer and they are awesome!! I wish I would have seen your video before then, I would have added some metallic spray paint. I am always struggling looking for a paint that truly reads like gold, copper or silver. I have added spray paint to my resin but never have added it straight to the top, brilliant idea. I am working on a series of geode inspired resin painting and this idea will be very helpful. Thanks so much for sharing, I love when artist share their process and don't keep it secret. I love art and I love new techniques. Stay cool!!

Ary Kritzer omg I have been completely inspired by the geodes I have seen lately. I’m working on them too. For your counters you could always incorporate the gold into a clear coat.

Beautiful countertop! Thank you so much for the step by step explanations! You didn't say but I am assuming Mom loved it? When do you do the Maryland commission piece? I am looking forward to seeing that video as well. Is it significantly less expensive to have the countertops done in resin as commissioned versus installing granite, marble, quartz, etc for the customer? It was great seeing Kujo in the video as well!
@ArtistTillDeath
@ArtistTillDeath 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Brenda! She did love it. We fly out to do the Maryland counters on the 10th. I have never priced a countertop personally but from what I have gathered from my clients it is about $20 per sqft less expensive to have a counter resined rather than gutting existing counters and purchasing any of those stone options and having it put in. I love including Kujo, I wish he could be in the Maryland clip but he will be at his sitters for that trip :/

Artist Till Death I am going to try my best... 😬 My issue filling in the marble tile grout, so the resin lays evened out on the marble tile and marble tile cracks so I have a flat surface before the resin acrylic goes on?
@ArtistTillDeath
@ArtistTillDeath 6 жыл бұрын
Nurse Calls you could level the area up with more grout, then seal it with a polycrylic coat or two. Then do a clear resin prep coat to check it out and further seal it before you do the art coat.

On prefab countertops, just before the rounder part of the edge they sink in a bit to, I assume, keep messes from easily running off the edge. That will have to be filled somehow, correct? Perhaps bondo?

Absolutely love it! the roller tip is great, just wondering how long it needs to cure before it's safe to use? I also now know you need more than one person for large areas, need to find me a willing helper lol
@ArtistTillDeath
@ArtistTillDeath 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Lou! The foam roller is great to get the feathering without tilting the counter - make sure it's foam though. It's safe to touch within 18 hours usually but I wouldn't set and leave anything on it for roughly 72 hours. If you do, it can leave a slight indention. It's definitely better to have a helper for large areas since the resin will begin to set and be worthless within 30 mins unless it is able to breath on your surface (you saw what happened to the resin in the cup, lol).

Very nice,one question though I thought you had to use a bonding agent for the base coat and then do the undercoat,is it OK to use ordinary house paint as the base coat??.
@ArtistTillDeath
@ArtistTillDeath 6 жыл бұрын
It depends on what the surface is made of. Yes, a bonding primer is ideal but in the small town we were in, they didn’t have any. So in order to combat this we sanded the surface to create the tooth that the bonding agent would have provided.

Correction, I just noticed that we used Envirotex Lite on this one - this resin is just like the countertop resin we switched to but it can only go up to 260 F.
