If you're rev matching coming to a stop, it's best to tap your brakes just enough so your brake lights come on to let the cars behind you know you're slowing down. It can be hard telling how fast/when a motorcycle braking from a distance since they are a lot smaller.

Can you make a video about your R3 and what exactly you did tune? And where are these front panels from? Are these downforce panels? It looks amazing!

I been watching over and over lol but on part 9:12 when ur explaining how to do it it looks like u don’t let off throttle or do u?
@RickyMoto Жыл бұрын
When downshifting u blip the throttle, u should already be off the throttle if ur slowing down getting ready to downshift, but even if ur dragging the throttle a slight bit it’s fine, just blip it softer since ur already “pre-revving it” as u blip the throttle u left off as u release the clutch

So, off the throttle at the very beginning, then go through the rev match sequence which happens essentially simultaneously, and then back on the throttle? I think I got it at least conceptually. Now, to practice. Thank you! This was simply explained and most videos I've seen explain it more complicated i feel.

How much clutch do u pull in with stock? Cuz I feel like aftermarket levers have less pull in so it’s easier. I have a 2018 r3
@RickyMoto2 жыл бұрын
It’s adjustable but the way I have it set is I only have to pull it about 1/3 of the way for the clutch to engage (with aftermarket) the stock lever was about 1/2 way

So are u supposed to be in low rpms to rev match
@RickyMoto Жыл бұрын
U should rev match whenever you downshift, but if you’re asking when to downshift, it all depends on what you’re trying to do, if you’re slowing down around the mid to lower range downshifting is fine if it’s a gradual slow down. A faster slow down mid rpm will help with a greater engine brake. But if you’re downshifting for the sake of more powerful acceleration then keeping it to a higher rpm range will put you in the powerband
@bryancardenas-qs4ig Жыл бұрын
@@RickyMoto long story short I been practicing rev matching to slow down but when I let off the engines reving loud and hard and someone from another video told me I have to rev match when I’m in lower rpm’s ??
@RickyMoto Жыл бұрын
If your slowing down at a normal speed and have enough road then yes lower rpm, if your slowing down quite quickly sometimes there’s not enough time where you’re dropping a gear every 2 seconds then where a slightly higher rpm rev match can be done, it’s definitely gonna rev up much harsher but it’s all situational. Mind you also should be holding brakes while rev matching down to drop the rpms quicker

@@RickyMoto I appreciate man I just been doing it the way I learned in msf course so like for me In my manual to downshift from 6 to 5 I should be in the 50 mph limit to shift from 6 to 5 but riders say rev matching better for the bike and I just got into riding 2 month ago
@RickyMoto Жыл бұрын
@@bryancardenas-qs4ig keep practicing you’ll get the hang of it. I took the msf and they never taught to rev match they just told me to release clutch slowly as I downshift and allow the bike to basically correct itself. Which is not great for the clutch and slows down the downshifting process which I believe is making it more dangerous cuz if u don’t the clutch release correctly without a rev match the rear tire slips
@Flowshift.2 жыл бұрын
can you rev match from 2nd gear to first gear i felt the bike screem soo loud everytime doing it

Does it go both ways? When you upshift?
@RickyMoto2 жыл бұрын
Upshifting you don’t blip throttle u let off, but the pattern of off throttle, clutch, shift, and back on throttle should be done all at once

i thought it was clutch rev down
@RickyMoto7 ай бұрын
it can be done that way too, the concept is the same but when all done the same time simultaneous it allows the downshift to be much quicker and smoother with less clutch wear as you’ll only need to pull the clutch for a split second rather than holding it. another technique is to rev while shifting down without the clutch at all (it works and safe to do so), it’s even faster but takes a bit of practice as it will be easily jerky if not timed properly
