Honestly skateboarding is a lot harder than it looks. When I got my pennyboard, I thought I'd hop on and be cruising down the street, but the second I stepped on it and pushed off for the first time, I fell right off haha

Practise standing on one foot with your eyes closed - it's harder than you realise. Also practise running and cycling (especially as slowly as possible). Fitness, speedy footwork and balance in other disciplines all help. If you get good at other things, you can learn to get both feet on a skateboard in as little as 10 minutes. But just do what you are comfortable with and just keep doing a little more each day. All the best!

personally I think that "nickel" boards work really well for getting around. For some people penny boards are too small for their feet and wobble too much when going fast. Some people don't want to have to carry around a longboard as they think it's too heavy and bulky. IMO "nickle" boards are a good in between bec they are not too heavy or too big and they go pretty fast too. But that's just my opinion.

I learned how to push on a nickel board after two hours I had it down this was at my cousins house then for a week straight it's all I thought about I watch braille videos every second of the day I learned all the basics and EVERYTHING then I noticed I wanted a skatedboard not a nickelboard then it ''twas my grandmas birthday (I live with her) when we got out of dinner with my family my older cousins boyfriend was talking to me and I KEPT talking about skateboarding and he was like "oh I have a skateboard if you want it" I FREAKED out he got it out of the trunk it REALLY beat up but I was idc I love it I tried to push and almost fell 😂 that's how I learned nickel and skateboards are very different I rode for 6 hours a day for a week (I still do it) was comfortable with pushing carving and tic tacing and I've been working on my ollies for 4 days I did my first one today I'm SOOOOO HAPPY now I do them every time now I'm working on my shuv it's wish me luck 😊❤️

Put your foot down before you end up going too fast and everything will be fine next time. Practise that a lot, as well as running off the front (not the side or back) and you won't fall again. Don't go so fast.

Probably better to get a bigger board and tighten your trucks. That way you have more room to improve your balance and the board won't swerve so badly if you do overbalance at all. You can always loosen them again when you're more comfortable riding.

I got my pennyboard today and even though I still have some problems turning and stopping it was really fun to be able to ride it on the first day, I was a little scared because I tried riding my brother's skateboard a few years ago and I thought it was impossible back then, I felt so happy when I manage to put both of my feet on the board within 30 minutes of practicing

No, it depends on your size, as well as what what you plan on using the skateboard for? If you're planning on using it primarily for tricks, get a regular street board; although you can perform many tricks on a plastic shortboard (Nickel/Penny). Streetboards aren't good for cruising unless you replace the hard wheels for soft wheels on a cruiser. Using them for cruising otherwise, will destroy your hard wheels and take a lot out of you. If you are looking for a board just to cruise on, there are many different types. Notably, the Penny, the Nickel, & the longboard. Lots of people say that longboards are "cooler" ... then again, lots of people are cunts. If you have really small feet (like me :-D) Penny & the more stable Nickel board, might work better for you to get started. The soft wheels allows you to go a decent speed without having to kick too much. If you want to learn a few tricks but still cruise around, you can totally do a penny or a nickel board because they are just the right size - though a nickel would be easier. It takes a different level of skill to be able to do tricks on plastic boards, & it'll make the transition to street boards (trick boards) all that much easier! Longboards are great if you want more space to stretch your feet if they're big, they go extremely fast & you only have to kick like twice to be zooming, and they are great for downhill skating - NOT TRICKS. The best trick you can hope to achieve on a longboard is a kick flip. All cruisers work well for long distance travel. & it really depends on if you want the more portable option (Penny & Nickel and other cruisers), or the faster option (the longboard).
