Great video! Key note for beginners on making the “180 jump turn” shown towards the end… Shift your back foot forward before you jump to help with reducing the amount of rotation needed and build some rotational momentum. You can see that happening in the video if you watch closely.

Oh man! Great vid. I've been consuming all the how-to vids on youtube for verts/bowls etc. Carved my first bowl this morning, around the same time that you uploaded this video. Unfortunately, I injured myself 40 mins in by slipping down a bank and pulling one of my lower ab muscles. I should have just slid down but i over-used my already tired abs. Sucks being injured, but I can't wait to get back out there and try it again. Keep the vids coming!

I think youre a very down to earth blader compare to most bladers ive met. I still have most tricks and techniques to learn , on and off blading for 20 years 😅 How do you keep up your speed? Is having all 8 wheels recommended? I have trouble keeping speed, making it very tiring to pump up half pipes or exit bowls . i have been using 4 wheels instead of 8.

I’m struggling with learning how to turn 180 while going up the ramp. From the video, it seems my issue is that I’ve been pumping then turning as 2 separate motions whereas it should be more of a seamless pump-into the turn. It’s’ food for thought, but man turning on a ramp feels so forced and awkward. Thank you for your explanations.

I'm pretty new to transition skating and am trying to figure out how turn both directions with while carving. Do you do the opposite "box" stance when you carve either left or right? Or do you always use your dominate foot forward no matter the direction of the carve? Awesome vid, I am pumped to try transition more.
@BrandonDrummond
@BrandonDrummond 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I hope this helps you pic up transition fast! Keep your dominate foot forward for now. It should work in both directions. It'd be worth learning the opposite box stance while carving as well though. Get it down with your dominant foot in front and then get it down with the opposite. There's shortcuts for spins if you can do both. I hope that helps ✌
@smalltymehero
@smalltymehero 3 жыл бұрын
@@BrandonDrummond Ok thanks for the reply. This will give me confidence to just work on it with my dominate foot forward for now instead of questioning it constantly! I can really only spin one way right now but will hope to practice opposite box stance soon. Thanks, brotha!

Hey Brandon, is this something that you NEED aggressive skates to do? I just started inline skating, and I have some new Rollerblade RB Cruisers with 80mm wheels. I didn't think I would like aggressive skating, but I've been practicing at my local skate park, and it seems like it would be fun. I think it's a big more challenging because I'm higher off the ground, and I gain speed quickly. Let me know what you think. Thanks for the videos!
@BrandonDrummond
@BrandonDrummond 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! That's really cool you want to get into aggressive. You can do this on any skate not just aggressive. Once you master it on one you can do all wheel sizes and heights. Your 80s will just be a lot faster 🔥Aggressive skates may be a little easier because they're slower but overall the technique is the same.

They're both not great but Karori's better because its wider. Island bay is to short.

@BrandonDrummond
@BrandonDrummond 3 жыл бұрын
If you ride a freestyle or anti-rocker set up or have square profile wheels, it will be very hard to turn without lifting. A setup like that is not good for carving ramps. But it's still possible you will just have to do very wide turns. Thanks for watching and keep at it. I hope this helps 🙏
