Just saw a comment about this, so thought I'd give a PSA to anyone watching this video. Under no circumstances, unless you're an expert or experienced in sabrage, should you ever attempt to sabre prosecco or non-traditional method sparkling. Your chances of the bottle exploding are far greater than champagne, cava, or other traditional method sparkling, due to the secondary fermentation (that gives bubble) occurring in a tank before bottling instead of occurring within the bottle
@1PhantomT
@1PhantomT Жыл бұрын
True. But just saying to be able to know what you’re doing you have to fail at it first… so.
@dreadwolfrising
@dreadwolfrising Жыл бұрын
@@1PhantomT the risk is way too high to start with prosecco. If you fail, the bottle could explode and you could end up with lacerations. If someone has to practice I'd recommend starting with a very well-chilled bottle of traditional method sparkling for the aforementioned reasons. Even a super cheap bottle of cava would be far safer until you get the feel. After dozens of successes with traditional method, then could someone move on to something like prosecco, but it's still highly dangerous. Ideally nobody should try sabreing without the direct supervision of a professional

You generally want to use a knife with a spine of 90 degrees rather than a smooth top or curved spine. Makes no sense to use the actual edge. The back of the knife goes on the seam and while maintaining constant contact, strike the seam.
@lukester5280
@lukester5280 9 жыл бұрын
This guy's good, but there is a critical misstep here. You should never loosen the cage under any circumstances unless you have a secure grip on the top of the cork at all times. Mr. Lombardo was seriously jeopardizing his safety when he stuck his face over the loosened cage--that cork can pop on the first twist. I've seen it happen plenty of times and it IS super sketchy. It's still possible to saber the bottle without loosening the cage at all--the trick is to make the cutting motion twice, stopping when the blade hits the cage, before a final third motion with a follow-through.

Prosecco works perfectly to saber. It's just as champagne. Prosecco is manufactured the same way as champagne but with more "hightech" facilities and machines. They use the same bottles and the pressure inside is pretty much the same. I ALWAYS sabrage my Prosecco, no problem, no glass, just exactly like my Champagne bottles pop.
@dreadwolfrising
@dreadwolfrising Жыл бұрын
Nope you're recommending something quite dangerous and are completely incorrect about the production method of prosecco. It's far more safe to sabre champagne and other traditional method sparkling wines due to the fact that the second fermentation (that creates the bubble) happens inside the bottle resulting in more pressure. Prosecco's secondary fermentation happens inside a pressurized tank and it is then transfered into bottles, resulting in some pressure loss along the way. You can most definitely sabre prosecco but it's much more dangerous than traditional method (remember that if it goes wrong a bottle can explode and cause injury), so unless someone is an expert or experienced in sabreage, I'd never recommend someone try to sabre any tank method sparkling

I thought the whole point was to show a way to do it without brekaing the neck... Don't drink out of a bottle with a broken neck. it's ruined. there are micro glass pieces in the drink, whether you can see it or not..
