How To Save A Fading Kitten - Treatment Instructions, Supply List, Support - Fading Kitten Syndrome

🔸️PLEASE READ THIS FIRST IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION🔸️ ▪️If you have a Fading Kitten, follow the instructions as closely as you can. ▪️It's okay to make substitutions like honey or maple syrup instead of the Karo I use. It okay if you don't have all of the things I mentioned. The most important things are keeping them warm and raising their blood sugar. ▪️If you don't have access to things like sub-q fluids, that's okay. Just focus on keeping them warm and raising their sugar levels. These are the two most important things. ▪️You can make your own electrolytes solution by mixing 1/4 teaspoon of table/sea salt with 8 oz of water. ▪️If you don't have access to kitten formula you can use goats milk. Please only use cows milk in an absolute pinch and make the switch to kitten formula or goats milk asap (eg: if you find a tiny stray and the stores are closed, get the right milk asap). ▪️If you have specific questions please leave a comment for me, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

I read you have to be careful with to much zinc for a cat. To much can be fatal although it’s a vital nutrient. Zinc is also added to pedialyte. So how much is recommended for a kitten?

It's important to accept that some fading kittens are beyond saving. all you can do in these situations is comfort the little guys and make the passing as easy as possible for them. even a dying kitten deserves loving pets. he fought hard, and I'm proud of him.

I knew when we got our babies that their chances were not good. I have bottle fed kittens before with success, but these were literally "days" old when we got them. They were doing good (eating, energetic, and purring) for a full week. But then started spiralling one by one. The hardest part is hearing them purr and you think you are doing good, and then they turn on a dime. Thank you for your words of encouragement at the end of this video. Although it made me cry, it was good to hear/read the purring for someone for a little while part. It's heartbreaking even if only for a week.

I followed your instructions in addition to force feeding a combination of KMR and wet food in a syringe. When I picked her up from a foster I thought she was dead. Then I felt a slight pulse. I spent the night with her on my chest with a blanket and heating pad. She is not out of the woods yet but she is walking around now. I am crying tears of joy. Remember that for every beautiful working innovation that made a cat so perfect, hundreds of thousands at least were born wrong somehow and just couldn't thrive. If you raise animals sometimes one will just die, no matter what you do. I want to thank you SO MUCH for this video. I followed it to a T and little Zara is still here with me today. It felt like it was never going to work and she just laid there lifeless for hours but I stuck with it (and I prayed a lot). I was the only one there for my kitten who was the last born in the litter. The mama cat isn't even doing anything to try to help their baby. The baby is weak. Wobbly, struggling to breath, dehydrated, cold. I tried to keep the baby warm. Doing what I can to help. I don't have almost all of the things that was mentioned in the video sadly. Only surger and water which I mixed well and did small finger drops to the baby's mouth. The baby is still alive and struggling and my own mother wouldn't let me try to save it even more. Just told me to leave it to the mama cat. All I know is the baby isn't gonna live until the next day. Thanks to my mom. I was crying when I held it for the last time. I did everything I can for him.

I found 6 kittens, all of them seem fine at first, after less than a week of having them, they started to become less active and will hardly eat or drink water! 2 sadly died and one is dying In my arms as I'm typing this, I'm feeding the little kitten warm sugar water and electrolytes every 3 minutes,. My 6 days old orphaned kitten was unresponsive and completely lifeless for 4 whole hours, I tried CPR and kept pumping his chest to no avail, I kinda started to give up until I saw this video. I mixed some regular water with sugar and administered a few drop in his mouth every three minutes, he started to gradually gain responsiveness, was able to close his mouth (he had his mouth open the whole time), then wiggle his feet then was able to hold up his head and fast forward three hours later he was able to walk and meow and even climb on my clothes 😭😭😭 I then fed him his formula and is now fast asleep ❤️❤️ I am forever grateful to you 🙏🙏🙏

I am so thankful I found this video on time. My 6 week kitten was suffering from constipation due to worm. Vet is not easily available in our place yet i manage to find one who gave deworming tablet and laxative to clear her poop. After givinh laxative she suffered dehydration. I had to perform enema twice to get her poop out. She became so weak. I followed your instructions and fed her orally for 3 days continuously. Gave her Subcutaneous fluid once. Didnt have butterfly needle so gave her directly from syringe. Finally she is fine now after 3 weeks of struggle. Thank you so much

Thank God for your video. 😭🙏🏻💝 Yesterday, after my kitten ate her normal food and taken medication for her antifungal then after few minutes, she vomited and becamve very weak. When we took her to the vet, the doctor said that shes dying already and no gurantee she will surivive with + coronavirus. She was not moving but breathing. Her eyes are moving dilating. Dude I found this kitten on my property after I came home from work. The mommy cat that lives on my property didn't want her kittens, so I found them all dead except for one. He has been doing so good this past week, but today he refused to eat and was extremely weak. It honestly made me feel like shit I clean him from fleas everyday and feed him every few hours. Its been my experience that outdoor cats get pregnant so often that they are just over it. They have zero shits left to give and their bodies are run down and exhausted. They are literally incapable of growing healthy babies any more and when by some miracle they have live births, they just don't have it in them to be a mom anymore. If it is at all possible, try to get this old girl spayed before she gets knocked up again. It would be the biggest gift you could ever give her. If anyone is going through this, try giving the kitten pure maple syrup. Rub it in the roof of their mouths and tongue. Make sure they are warm. If you need to breathe into their fur to keep them warm, do so for 20 mins. Warm some water and sugar and feed it to the kitten with a syringe. After about 30 mins they will start to show vital signs. Keep giving them syrup every 15 mins and through the night, even if they look better. Pray over them and have faith ❤. I was able to save 2 kittens that were on the verge of death this way.

fcukmadss 101, It doesn't have to be organic if you don't have it on hand, although organic is best. The Karo syrup I talk about in the video is just a think corn syrup. You can also use maple syrup or honey if it's all you have on hand. The point is just to raise their blood sugar as hypoglycemia is a common cause for Fading Kitten

From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you! I rescued a kitten at what I assume was around 4 weeks old and for two weeks he was thriving, just living his best life. Then he took a nosedive. He was glassy eyed, lethargic, no appetite and no interest in playing, he just curled up in a ball and slept. I was so freaked out, even though I'd only had him for two weeks this was NOT like him and it just felt like something was very wrong. Once I googled his symptoms and saw that it was most likely FKS, I searched on here for what to do and your video came up! I just came upon your channel. I started fostering this spring. I am on my third family. I lost one of my current family kittens to fading kitten. He would not nurse from th ex start. I tried everything I knew. I knew he wasn't going to make it, so I wrapped him up made him as comfortable as I could and rocked him until he got his wings. The other two kittens are now 4 weeks old and rolly polly snuggly bugs. My little girl is a poldactyl. She has a total of 23 toes. 7, 6, and 5 on each rear paw. She walks like a gecko. The boy looks like a black ewok from star wars return of the jedi.

I wish I could have done more to save two baby kittens because my mom was too late to bring the supplies, nor could we have afforded the proper supplies needed. Same with another two where my cousins and auntie ruined the scent of two healthy kittens by feeding them replacement milk which caused the mother and other cats to reject them and attack them. Had to bury all four (happened at seperate times). Thank you for this information. 😭💝

Oh wow… I wish I found this video a day later, poor Pickle was starting to become very weak at 12AM on a Friday, it was his bedtime so we thought it was tired, as we have never taken care of a kitten that was 5 weeks old. We woke up and it’s whole body just took a toll downwards. He did have watery diarrhea the day we got him, but we suggested it was due to the food because it was new to him.. he just wouldn’t eat or drink, was freezing cold / shaking, and just looked on the edge of death. We went to the vet and we were to late. The only choice was hospitalization which costed up to 18,000 where we live. We didn’t have that money and sadly my mom decided to put poor Pickle down and out of its pain. He was so ill the vet wouldn’t let him home because if he did , he would die a slow death. This was our first time taking care of a 5 week old kitten that was a stray outside, and we never knew about this syndrome. Rest In Peace Pickle, 11-14-21..

I found two abandoned 3 week old kittens on road... I took them to vet,fed them kitten formula kept them warm. unfortunately one of them and diarrhea and died 2 days back.The other one was meowing a lot yesterday and today he is sleeping all day not eating and seems sad I also think he is dehydrated (though he poops normally) I am trying this method and hopefully he will survive...

Sound like an upper respiratory infection. We see those a lot in rescue work; it's probably the most common illness we see. Thank you for trying to save him!

12 months ago - late January my litter of four kittens became FKS pros! One was out for four hours but I brought her back. She even had four bouts of it! The last session, was two of them at once. I didnt have a heating pack so I shoved the purritos down my cleavage and put a heat pack on the outisde. I gave them loves of kisses and whispered sweet nothings to them. I learned on the job, googling and reading up on the protocols and luckily had a vet who helped me by teaching me subcut fluid. Thank you for this video! My brother and his wife took in 2 very young foster kittens, their cat had kittens 2 week prior to this. Both kittens were very ill looking and extremely tiny despite being older than momma cats biological babies. They did fine for 2 weeks until they noticed today the smallest kitten was in obvious pain and with research we found out it was fading kitten syndrome. We then found this video and followed the instructions. We were sure we were too late (poor guy was in awful state, we thought he was past the point of no return.) At one point he stopped breathing and I was able to bring him back with gentle chest compressions. It’s been 3 hours of following this video and he’s made a remarkable turn around, he’s getting his strength back and is even able to walk a little bit again although he is so exhausted and wants to sleep. Not out of the woods yet and we’re really praying this tough guy pulls through! He’s got a fighters spirit. Thank you for the video, if this guy pulls through it’s another tiny life you’ve saved! Fingers crossed!! ❤️🐱

I was too late and lost 2 kittens. After what happened, I was devastated and now, I feel like I can't sleep. When the 2nd one was dying, he wasn't moving. They were motionless, but breathing. After an hour or two, I noticed that he was drooling and put him on his side for him to not choke. After 2 more hours, he finally passed next to me. It makes me very sad that he can no longer see their brothers, sisters, and mother. I miss them both so much already :(

Excellent video!! I've been rescuing/fostering for 8 years and I've dealt with/saved/sometimes lost many kittens and I never really understood the Karo syrup thing. Colleague of mine kept suggesting it and I didn't understand really why. Knew about pedialyte and everything else, just not the Karo (or the awesome cool nipple!)
