Teacher 50 60 pronounce with T sound or D sound .. i really confused with this two numbers ..
@SpeechModification
@SpeechModification Жыл бұрын
Hi, good question. In those words, we use a T, but because the T is after another consonant sound (ft and st), there's no air released, so it can sound a little more like a D. It's called an unaspirated T. I can cover this in a future video for you.

I am teased I say it wrong but I grew up closer to the East coast of US now I’m at the west coast , don’t know if there is a difference between the 2?? Anyone ??
@SpeechModification
@SpeechModification 3 жыл бұрын
There are certainly a lot of different dialects all around the US - for these words, I don't think there's one specific difference between west coast and east coast, but depending on where you grew up, "fourteen" could have more of a D sound, or "forty" could have a less R (sound more like "fawdy.").

i have trouble saying the flapped "t" when there is an r in front of it do you have any tips?
@SpeechModification
@SpeechModification 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes, that can be tough. Do you also find it difficult to say words with an r followed by a /d/? For example words like "bird" and "card?" If those are also hard for you, this won't help, but if they are easier, try thinking of the flapped t as a d sound. For example, think of "forty" as "fordy." Try saying words like "hardy" and "carding," then your words like "party" and "carting." You may also find this video helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6WoY5iqmdSdhqc

Try breaking it into 2 syllables - "for" "dee." Say them slowly, with a break in between, then see if you can say them more quickly. Also, try saying the second syllable first - like "dee, for-dee," to help you mouth maintain the d sound. You can also try saying "ord" by itself, since this combination is probably what's giving you difficulty.
