How to strip down the scuttle on the front of your van and then seal it. This will stop water ingress into your engine and prevent your diesel injectors from seizing.

Great vid thanks, will be doing this today. bought a vivaro a few weeks ago, No 2 injector wasnt sealed, chuffing through, they had stripped the thread out of the clamp, re tapped to m10 fine and made a bolt on a lathe, they had cut the thread on that wonky, i re tapped the thread to m12, and made a stainless insert to take it back to m8, i then found they had cracked a hole in the top of the cam cover while trying to remove the injector and plugged it with chemical metal, luckily i ally weld so cleaned it up, welded it up with the engine in situ, its all back together now and seems fine so far!

Hi on the timing chain, my oil pump chain was quite flimsy, as a recommendation chain that at the same time when fitting the timing chain because if that goes the engine will stop from lack of oil to the top end. Thanks Ian

I knows vids 3 year old but my van just git the injection and emissions come up and the red stop light so this teusday the weather is gona be nice so gona do this to mine before i have any work done. Just had a new dpf fifted but dont think the machanic deleted all the error codes so the new dpf as blocked up again, but hopefully ile get to the bottom of it without too much money spent. Thanks for the vid
@southwalesinjectorremovals89326 ай бұрын
If the dpf has blocked in such a short time it might be worth getting your glowplugs checked, as if they aren't working correctly your engine won't go through a self clean. It's a thing that's regularly missed.

Thanks for this. Now that I've done this, is there anything else I can do to make the injectors easier to remove in the future? Any sort of oil that I can soak on top of the injectors? I don't need them out now but thinking of the future

Great video - will get mine done! That rectangular hole in the bulkhead to the steering column, did you have something removed or is there normally a hole straight through?
@MrLilygreen3 жыл бұрын
The blower motor unit had been removed that why you can see the big hole
@roulettered56 Жыл бұрын
Did you remove the original foam on the scuttle and replace with sealant or did you leave the foam for added protection? Would the foam still saturate and leak?

Great video..bought an 11 mint vivaro with top broken off injector as day van project..waited for rain and was shocked to see how much water flowed out of the centre into the head..previous idiot owner broke injector top and left it outside for a year with leaking scuttle😢😢 all four look proper rusted...reckon 2nd hand engine be easier 😂😂
@southwalesinjectorremovals8932 Жыл бұрын
They're a nightmare to be honest, 2010 onwards injectors are made out of the same material as Ford Transits you can literally watch them rust.

Hey. Thanks for this video. This was so helpful! With regards to those two drainpipes you said you didn't put back on that drain from the scuttle down in to the front wings, are there any downsides to that? Doesn't increase the chances of corrosion? I'm asking because I've gone to put mine back on but they're rock solid so they actually don't channel the water, they just leak! Thank you 😊
@southwalesinjectorremovals8932 Жыл бұрын
Sorry about the delay. No there's no downside to leaving them off at all. The water channels away from all the essential parts.
@stevedelaney9912 Жыл бұрын
Great video. Will get onto this asap after just buying a 2013 trafic 2.0l with 170k… So I understand water gets onto the injectors, but the vans running perfectly fine, are you saying when/if the injectors fail for whatever reason a mechanic will struggle to remove the old injectors to replace? Would you recommend changing the injectors post this mod? And are you still in business for injector replacements?
@southwalesinjectorremovals8932 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve. Yes exactly, I offer the removal service exactly because most garages would be unable to remove them. My website is southwalesinjectorremovalservice.co.uk. I am definitely still in business.
@MK_ultra_2 жыл бұрын
Great video, thank you... one thought though... removing the drainage pipes that run down to the inner wings seems like a good idea, however, isn't there an ECU or something almost directly underneath the hole on the passenger side?
@gingers1united2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought that. Did you remove yours?
@MK_ultra_2 жыл бұрын
@@gingers1united I ended up keeping my drainage pipes, but check them for blockages regularly.

Hi, great video. Just carrying out job now. I noticed when taking everything apart that the second plastic panel you removed is missing from mine. My top plastic scuttle is slightly different to with some holes in showing threads that the second plastic cover seems to sit in with push on covers. My question is are all skuttles the same and am I missing that panel or are there different mods. My van is a 2011 2.0 115. Thanks in advance.
@southwalesinjectorremovals8932 Жыл бұрын
Yes they are all the same if you don't have the second panel then it is missing.

Could water getting onto the engine bay damage that maf? When it rains heavy my van doesn't want to start for a while then has low power untill it's warm
@crpth13 жыл бұрын
Engine can start without the MAF connected. So, logic tells the MAF shouldn't be the main responsible for those symptoms! ;-) Although your description would lead me straight into earth cables. On battery and specially the earth strap on the gearbox...In fact ANY earth cable being clean and in good condition is a good way to keep things going well! ;-)

@xxwookey9 ай бұрын
Silicone is a much more reliable and long-term sealant in compression than it is just stuck to a surface, so taking it off so that you can squash the seal will be much more reliable in the long term. An external bead will work for a while - maybe even quite a long time if the surface it applied to was nice and clean. These days I only ever use silicone in compression or because I need colour matching. For almost any other case modified silane sealants are better now.
