Got the Members Mark griddle today and used this to season. How do you get the corners to season? Seems like there is a good 3-4 inch triangle area in each corner that is low heat and didn't season like rest of griddle
@donrider95502 жыл бұрын
I just apply the oil and keep the heat on, it will season that area.
@_____NICK_____2 жыл бұрын
How long do you wait between each seasoning? Do you let the griddle completely cool down in between each season?
@SouthernBackyardCooking2 жыл бұрын
You wait until the smoke from the oil goes away, then apply another coat and wait until smoke goes away.

It’s an awesome griddle, sir. I have a question. What temperature (Ex: High or Low) do you set the griddle on to get up to 500° when you’re ready to season it?

I would set it at med low to start and then move it up to med to med high.

@@SouthernBackyardCooking one more question. Sorry. What do you need to clean the griddle before Seasoning it. Should I use mild dish detergent? Like what chemical should I use?

Never use harsh chemicals. I would just wipe it down with a damp rags, water only

Just got the 22" Member's Mark model and the manual is confusing to me. It says for initial use you should perform a "burn-off" by cranking the heat to high for 15 minutes to burn off the soy oil that it ships with and any residues in the burners, but then it says elsewhere to never crank the heat to high or else you'll risk warping the griddle surface. Your video doesn't mention not cranking it to high, but your comments recommend against it. What should I actually do for a first use and seasoning? Thanks.
@SouthernBackyardCooking2 жыл бұрын
Never use high, it will burn off on medium just fine.
@DirkBelig2 жыл бұрын
@@SouthernBackyardCooking Thanks for the reply. So weird that they instruct you to use high. Also, if we're not supposed to use high, why is there a high setting?
@SouthernBackyardCooking2 жыл бұрын
Running on high for less than a minute. It will not hurt but for long periods of being on high is when you have problems with warping or cracking of the griddle. This is why everybody recommends you not put it on high because in most cases of you start it there. You're going to leave it there until it gets up the temperature and that's will get it up to temp too fast.
