hey Breeny, I've been in a serious relationship for four months now, and during the first couple months I was struggling with losing myself and I realized that I was becoming depressed since I was looking for happiness in him. It's funny because I was actually looking for a video by you on this topic and now you've released it. I managed to make the shift to focusing on myself on my own and matching his energy and efforts, and I feel so much happier and healthier and independent, even in a relationship. @@sunni90 It's honestly still a lingering challenge but it has gotten a lot better. My advice to you is to have other things in your life that you care about/make you happy. You have to make yourself happy outside of your relationship if you want to be truly happy IN your relationship. You are so much more than just your boyfriend's girlfriend. Also, I had to take my boyfriend off of a pedestal. He's honestly the first genuinely good guy I've ever dated and I was focusing so much on how amazing and perfect he was, but now I realize he isn't. You have to realize your boyfriend isn't perfect and humanize him. And finally, it sounds like you might be afraid of losing him. You have to force yourself to accept the reality that you might lose him, allow yourself to fully feel every dimension of that, and let it go. You have to realize that you will be perfectly okay without him, in order to be healthy with him. I hope this helps!

I agree that real confidence is not being moved by how other people respond to you... BUT, also, social approval matters. Everyone cares what people think to some degree. Furthermore, our relationship to others is often how we learn to see ourselves clearer. I often hear this sentiment from influencers, who are very good at being liked by the masses, to "not care what people think of you.". 👉🏾It's very hard to feel good about yourself when you've never felt desired but do your best to be your best. Agreed. I guess its all about caring what THE RIGHT people in your life think instead of caring about what every other person thinks. Not every person's opinion is worth caring about and its up to you to decide which opinions matter.

You will never be able to make everyone happy. At the end of the day, you have to choose your battles and ultimately get to a place where you are happy with yourself first and foremost. Otherwise, you will be too busy pleasing others and their egos and unable to find peace from within. Once you are happy with yourself, you'll effortlessly be able to see whose opinion or advice should or should not be considered. I used to be a people pleaser a while back and to be honest, lacked a lot of internal peace. Work on yourself, work on yourself from within..find yourself..and watch everything else fall into place. :-)

This is so profound . I just got divorced in April and he married quickly only to figure out how mean he had been and how much he messed up. I practice self love self care and let garbage out and love others and try to forgive daily because God does!

Stephanie, have you TRULY sat in your grief and mourned the death of that relationship? Forgiveness is layered and comes in stages. Forgive yourself for decisions you did/didn't make. Get counseling if necessary. Do so for the children if there were any because they were affected as well. Start the process of learning who you are in this season. Rediscover your likes and what gives you joy. Give yourself permission to let go of the past hurt and to move forward into your new space of whatever you desire for yourself. Pray for him and release him to God. You will find that in time that the hurt will ease and lift. Also know that there's nothing that you could have done further to change his mind. Blessings on your journey to restoration and wholeness.

I realized I was my own resistance to the healing and wholeness I had asked for. Now that I have released my grip, I feel lighter.
