Thanks for the terrific input. It's really scary getting into these things so I'm still really worried about it but it's great to be a part of the writers segment of humanity. I'm writing in a brand new genre that I might label convivial protest nonfiction. So far in the last nine years only three people that bought my books and one of them sold their copy back almost immediately add second hands add second hand. So now I'm considering nonfiction and to add the protest conviviality in with the drama. I guess you could call it a drama dairy the model could be It Gets You Through the desert

So you pay the reader per hour AND also royalties? How do you decide how much in royalties to pay? Did you recoup your costs selling book?

@karentate8958 no. You either pay them per hour of finished work outright OR you could skip paying them outright and do a royalty-share agreement. I paid outright and so I don’t pay the audiobook performer a royalty. If you choose royalty-share, Audible will determine what the split is, not you. That is another reason I didn’t choose that option.

Hello - because I used the talent on ACX to make my audiobook, I actually did not have to do this as Amazon will publish the book on your behalf. Please research AI narration very carefully. You are giving your hard work and IP to an AI that will then train itself on your material that it can then use to create it's own version of your work. You're essentially training AI to replace you.

Always an important point to consider. I've done my research. In the video, I mention I didn't choose that option because I wanted my book to be performed and not just narrated. However, considering the high costs sometimes associated with voiceover artists, I have heard other authors choosing this option to keep their costs down. There are downsides and upsides to everything. At this point in time thought, AI narration is not for me.
