Hi Mike, I think I can safely say that Amazon needs to pay you for your instructional videos. I have tried to figure this stuff out by myself, but Amazon doesn't seem to understand how to put everything together in such a way that one has to be in the 200- IQ range to understand their awful instructions. But luckily, you have saved the day. So now I know which software and hardware I will need, THANK YOU!! Yes, I have had to watch your videos several times, but finally understand the basics. So, my hat is off to you and I have subscribed and liked. I also enjoy the fact that you talk and explain everything in a "normal" voice, so that your instructions are easy to follow. I will be watching more of your videos!! Thanks.

The limits are created by how much one sells versus how much sits. It will fluctuate every week or so. One week we were at 2400, this week at 8018, last month, 11k, last year, 1k. It is their algorithm for your sales. Also, 1 tip- Amazon will only allow 250 different items to go in on 1 shipment - we learned that the hard way when we had over 400 items and had to choose and go from there. Very frustrating!!! 😤😤😤 HTH (Hope that Helps)

I just dabble in books. The books I buy never have ISBN/Bar codes on them, as they tend to be vintage books. On vintage books, knowledge of literature becomes critical. If I did more with books, I would follow your advice for sure! One key you point out, find a source of books first, lots of books. Love your Savers set up. I took a long break from AMZ, pulling back my inventory in early 2020. Now, I’m no longer eligible to sell close to 15% of books I’d previously listed. COULD just be me, …just sharing, since it’s a new factor I’ll be calculating when assessing bulk buys.

I love this video - thank you TONS ! I do have a few questions, if I might ask? - Since there is a spot for your COGs, why do you only input $1, if you know what you've spent on the items? Also, you mentioned something that I never even thought of: If your inventory is sitting and getting old, you dispose of it ? How does that work, and what are the adverse affects of having to do that?
@goldenstatepicker3 жыл бұрын
I put that $1 in just because of the cost of not BREAKING the shipments to AMAZON. It's just a thing I do. As far as disposing of books you can manually do that with some buttons in the AMAZON dashboard. It will let you do 365+ days etc. 181-365 days etc. So, you can then just choose which books you want to dispose of. It helps clear out the deadwood. There are other options where you can set parameters and have them automatically removed too.

Thank you for this fantastic video🙏 Question: What happens to the product (book) amazon is holding when you delete the listing? Do they ship back to you? if so, do they pay for shipping cost to return your items to you? And why did your young bookseller friend have to “dump” all those books after they lowered his limit? by “dump” it sounds like trashed? did amazon not return ship his inventory and trash it themselves? or did he?
@goldenstatepicker2 жыл бұрын
Any book I want to rid myself of I have them just send to liquidation. I get very little for it but it is something. So, we can set parameters and tell them to send to liquidations after a certain point. As for my friend. I believe he had around 1500--1600 books and needed to get rid of the deadwood. LONG TAIL books and high sales rank that wasn't selling. So, he cleared out to make room for some new inventory.

Also, when a stocking limit has been reached and you need to let some go, as in your young friend's case, what happens to those books that you paid for to initially purchase and the shipping fees? Do they mail them back to you so you can find other ways to sell them? I understand if you are not sure.

With any luck I will be starting my own FBA business within the next couple of weeks! I have a question about the ARKscan thermal printer though. I see that you print 2 types of labels from it, but I cannot find any videos online showing how that printer works! The only ones on KZbin and the home website are the how to set them up, or how to link them to a MAC, or even how to load and print the 4x6 labels... but nothing about how that printer works with the smaller UPC Barcode labels! So, does that printer need to be re-loaded with different labels each time you need them? Or can you load it with both types of labels and have them feed in from different spots in the printer then out through the same output slot? Thanks again for the invaluable information!

@goldenstatepicker2 жыл бұрын
I ship them wrapped in plastic wrap. Commercial stuff. I don't ship major sets those are to hard. I would FBM those. With Scanlister for printing? If you use your own, you wait until you upload and there is a section were you would then print them on the sheets.

Hey Mike, revisited this video and wondered if you need a vendors license to send in New /unopened items.

Will the price populate in your inventory after after it gets scanned in?
@goldenstatepicker2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it all gets populated into scanlister. You can then make adjustments if needed etc.

Great video! I have watched several. I am just starting out but i am curios about the Nadamoo scanner. I see the pistol grip one is used for scanning into scanlist but what would you use the handheld smaller one for? Does it link to ScoutIQ when scanning? Is it really needed?
@goldenstatepicker2 жыл бұрын
The handheld unit is more important. That is used for when I'm scanning books at stores and bins. That connects to scoutiq and is invaluable.
@bobscheer66412 жыл бұрын
@@goldenstatepicker Thanks for taking the time to answer. I am only getting started. I will order smaller handheld. I am going to my moms, you said you were in silicon valley, she lives near Walnut creek, Antioch area. She has tons of books to practice on. She has tons of DVD also but not ready for that yet. I will get $14 ScoutIQ for now and see how it goes. Will wait on printer and scale until i get some books stockpiled to send in. I joined free account for less than 40 a month to see if it works for me. I live in San Diego so im not sure yet where to source from

I have never seen The "Placement" cost. I just select "All Items In One Box", set my box weight and dimensions. Then click "calculate shipping cost". I usually send in 35-40 books at about 40lbs and it costs me around $9 to a warehouse 2 hrs from me. Now what they usually do is send my box to 3-4 other warehouses and it takes about 2-3 weeks to get all books available for sale.
@goldenstatepicker2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that can happen, but I have seen more splits then ever and just decided to not to allow that. My do go to a warehouse about 2 hours from me. I also pay $9.79 for each 49LB box.

Hi Mike, great video. One question. Have you had any problem listing items as new? Other sellers I have watched say never list as new unless you can provide Amazon with an invoice from a supplier. So far I have been listing things like DVD's or CD's as "Like New" and then describing them as being sealed in their original packaging. Thanks.
@goldenstatepicker3 жыл бұрын
I sell like new and if it is sealed book in plastic I sell as new. I also sell all those electronics that are sealed as new and never had one problem.

Bob take a look at the updated video. Time stamp around the 1:30:00 mark. Long video but that section will show you how to stop have shipments split. I have changed my settings on scanlister to .50 cents instead of $1 kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZTJmauadtGamNE

I had no idea about that warehouse placement fee. I can't seem to find it in my settings menu. Im curious about your opinion on Amazon jumping on almost every listing and tanking the prices. Now when I price books I have to be aware of their price. I would love to list higher than Amazon and let them sell out but it's very possible they have much more than one copy of the book and I don't want to pay for software to see how much inventory they have. Have you often sold used books for much higher than Amazon's price on new books? I'm trying to be in the customers shoes and a customer would never pay more for a used book than what Amazon sells it new . If I am strategizing incorrectly I have to change up my strategy. :) thanks
@goldenstatepicker2 жыл бұрын
No I’ve never priced higher than Amazon. They lock up the buy box for them self in that case. They do run out of some items but it is rare. I once battled then on some RIT black dye that was #1 on amazon and that I left alone as they kept running out them my listing would pop up and sell. With books much different. I just let scoutiq guide me.

So you just ship all the books in one box to Amazon? They pack them as individual for you?
@goldenstatepicker2 жыл бұрын
I pack a box with about 48LBS of books then ship it to where ever AMAZON wants me too. In my case STOCKTON CA. since I'm in San Jose. Currently that cost me $10 to ship it using the power of Amazon's buying power on shipping. They then store and ship all the books I no longer have anything to do with them.

After I my books are at Amazon FBA, When I go in to view my inventory, out of the 30 books I sent in, 19 of them show invalid. They all have to messages. Hey Mike! Question - when you accept the shipping charge, does Amazon deduct that from the bank account you have on file? Like they deduct your monthly seller fee of 39.99? I imagine that's how it is paid, but nobody has actually said that so was hoping to confirm. Thank you!! And thnx for ALL OF THIS!!

It all just comes out of your balance. If you don’t have enough of a balance then it comes out of your account t that you used to set up amazon
