Most of us wouldn’t know to look that heavy in order to call out the seller on misleading descriptions, personally I’m grateful of you to use that as an example because that really brought it all together for me and even though I planned on being transparent I’m now going to be a lot more aware while buying books

As a Top rated seller, I suggest only buy from people like us that take a minimum of 12 clear pictures per item.

Station! I sell on eBay, and I did a similar video. I'm certainly not a grading expert, but trying to increase my knowledge, so I try and leave the grade out of the description, and allow the photos to speak for themselves. Agreed use all 12 photos. I did include some grades in my eBay listing and had a few returned. The buyer stated they were not the grade that was stated in the listing. So to avoid this I don't include my opinion on grades unless it's slabbed.
@ComicCulture
@ComicCulture 3 жыл бұрын
That's a really good point. The more you say about the "grade" the worse. But if you describe the books well they can't come back saying you promised a certain condition. Thanks!!

@@ComicCulture Agreed. Being honest with the description is your best bet.

Usually if I'm attaching a grade to the book in the title, say NM-, I will state in the description that this book is in the NM- range. Just by saying it's in the range of what you state gives you some room for error and you are not judged completely by your grading skills.

You picked a great book for a grading example. If that upper right corner bend was only on the cover and the book had no other defects easy NM. It is strange that the back had spine ticks but the front didn’t. The impressions on the interior of the book are often overlooked. I would probably have to send that book back. I wonder if EBay does any tracking of the number of returns a seller has and if eventually there are repercussions. 🖐🏻Station!!🖐🏻
@ComicCulture

Exactly. People overlook the back and interior pages when describing condition. If you overlook that as a seller you will have some mad buyers!

Yes Ebay tracks returns by reason and it affects the seller level (limiting their account facilities if they have bad returns rate).

Great video! My biggest obstacle is the shipping. It seems that the labels provided by EBay are not sufficient, and I don’t want the buyer to have postage due at delivery. When I look closely at the EBay generated postal label the weight and size were incorrect. When I went to the post office the shipping was at the $15 level. Does EBay have automatic presets for a Gemini mailer? Thanks bro!
@ComicCulture
@ComicCulture 3 жыл бұрын
If you add the size and weight in the shipping area ahead of time it will generate a $8-9 lable for you once they pay. Not sure about presets, I have to pick the package option and enter the info manually. If someone knows a better way I hope they let us know here. That's a good question to ask around the community though. Thanks!

Thanks for the guide. It helped me spruce up my listings! I noticed that my auctions aren't getting as many views as some other sellers (Unless it's my imagination) Any tips to increase visibility? Or does that come with more sales? Thanks again!

Thanks for watching! Sometimes it's the title. What I like to do is find one that sold recently that's clean and precise... Not a lot of fluff. You can copy and use that. There's also "promoting" but that costs a small % of the final sale I believe. Then sometimes it's the books you're selling. Supply and demand really.

Some (a lot) of my listings don't even get views. I don't understand why. I'm using the right categories, I'm using decent titles...but even a book like for example, "Spawn #6" is getting 0 views. Is it because nobody cares about that book?
@ComicCulture
@ComicCulture Жыл бұрын
It could be the demand for that book is really small. What I would do is search for sold listings and see if you can copy one of their titles for ones that had a lot of bids. That way you know it was at least historically well searched for and you can copy that format. The other thing to do is sacrifice a little bit of the percentage of the sale to a sponsored item and that will showcase it in front of others. The other thing you can do is search for the listing yourself and see where yours falls with the other ones and then compare the titles and see if you can get ahead of them somehow.

What shipping method are you using that is only costing only $1 for shipping? You mentioned $8 for the mailer and to charge $9 for shipping. That leave only $1 for mailing? Also a link to where you buy your comic book mailers should be nice.
@ComicCulture
@ComicCulture 2 жыл бұрын
I get my mailers from the official Gemini site. You can get 50 mailers for $60+shipping. Then you can use ebay's postage discounts based on predetermined package size and weight. So you always know the size of the package since it's the same for every mailer... Then you just mock weigh 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 books +mailer to know the oz per tier. Then you enter that information in eBay when you lost under the shipping section. It will come to about $8-9 usually. I use priority shipping as well as media mail doesn't cover comics.

Hey Nick, great video and very useful. What do you feel are the best target days and tines to list the Comics?
@ComicCulture

Great question. I typically list on Sundays mid/late day. Most people are around to bid late and it makes shipping easy the next day.

Yeah I would aim for 8-9pm EST in that case since the rest of the country is a few hours behind. Also 8-9pm local time is not too late for the Eastern folks to bid.

I end mine usually around 6pm central. That way it's afternoon/evening for everyone and gives me time to pack if needed and prepare for shipping the next day.

You should differentiate between high value and low value books. No way I would take that may pictures for $3 books.
@ComicCulture
@ComicCulture 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's a good point. If it's a cover price book, I usually just take one picture of the front one picture of the back and call it a day. But once you start getting into $15 (ymmv) or more, people tend to care more about the tiny imperfections that can only be seen when add more pictures.

Bad advice. Always worry about a glare. Simple fix only use natural light. It's the best picture quality

@Comic Culture if you want to be honest and show all the defects you do. And with natural light you have no glare. Also its impossible to show a defect that isnt there. That plan nonsense. I am a top rated seller with 100% positive feedbacks. I know what I am saying.
