I sell quite a bit on Ebay, and I typically stay away from selling higher value ungraded cards--I've had a couple of bad experiences where the buyers would claim the card was damaged and/or it had scratches or dings that weren't visible in the photo...then they end up sending me back a trashed copy of the same card (and they kept my copy). Luckily Ebay allowed me to keep the money in these cases as I had plenty of photos to back up my case, but I generally only sell graded cards or low value lots of singles, definitely less risk with those in my opinion. With that being said, I generally agree with Jake's tips, except I wouldn't use a white background as it hides whitening. I would also add that if you're using Ebay and you decide to go with an auction style listing (which I hardly ever do, I don't like the risk), try and have the auction end on Monday evening/night, the data shows that prices are slightly higher on average if they end Monday night.

Sticking to a similar topic of selling cards, can you do a video where you show how you usually pack your cards for shipping and potentially what shipping options you like to chose as well? I feel like this would be great for those who might feel anxious about messing up the process of buying and selling their pokemon cards.

I personally feel like using a white background is a terrible tip, only because it hides whitening on cards when trying to see the condition on the back of the card. But other than that, great video as always!
@sarahr83793 жыл бұрын
I agree 100%, I always take close ups on a dark surface to be absolutely transparent about whitening and ask for close ups on a dark background when buying. Marketplaces like EBay recommend a white background as a general rule of thumb, but that doesn’t make sense for some products (I.e. raw cards)

Great tips. I wish more sellers would take better pictures and do more to describe the condition of the card. I often message sellers asking if the card has visible scratches on the surface. Also, some people just post stock images of a card and I ask them to show the actual card front and back. When I sell cards, I will make sure to be as descriptive and transparent as possible. From my experience selling items, people are willing to pay more when you explain your listing in great detail. It gives them confidence in purchasing from you.

Another thing to note is to study the algorithm of the marketplace you're selling on. For example on eBay, if a listing with multiple quantity gets a sale it pushes it up in search rankings. So does refreshing your listings. So sometimes I will take a fairly lowish but still profitable offer on one of my multivariate listings and this will in turn give it a boost. Normally a couple sales early on go a long way in getting it highlighted in ebay's search ranking! Using multi listings for sets for example, is great for this as you only pay one listing fee for all the cards in a set and it is boosted in the search rankings every time a card from that listing is sold. A lot of my listings are on the first page because of this. Another tip is to fill in the specifics in detail as this will also push your listings up.

I have like 100 5 star reviews on Mercari and that one guy that gave me a 4/5 because I sold to a low feedback “I never give 5 stars and you can always do better” type of person ... I love Mercari but jeez they need to change a lot. The irresponsible feedback new users can give to veteran users. There should be a option to block all buyers under 5 feedback. They should adjust shipping prices again Ik they already did but I’m not content, it is still off. And they need to take less percentage from your final sale ( maybe 2 percent less than now) if they want to defeat the eBay final boss. The list goes on but I want them to start here. Maybe more incentives/deals discounts/rewards and badges for top sellers too!

Loving the new back drop! Also, any tips for selling internationally? I live in Ireland and we have a much smaller base then say Asia, the US or UK. A lot of Ebay sellers don't really care about taking good clear photos of what they're selling. It's not going to change because apparently it's not worth their effort to have a good photo, lol. My tip for photos is to take "detailed" photos of the item, like if there is a defect, take a photo of that and note it in the auction. Conversely, if the packaging is flawless, then take photos showing that too. Also, if you can scan your card, that would be the best method of getting the highest quality photo of your card. As a buyer, I like free shipping, but I've had strange results when I offered free shipping. It didn't affect sales. I made more sales when they paid for shipping, lol. The other thing with paying for shipping is the option to add insurance. I've never had issues selling "off the platform." It's been so successful that the "platform" is blocking private messages, lol. Of course they don't make their money when you don't sell through them, so don't hide that bias.

@ptc23073 жыл бұрын
PSA have just doubled their price to $20 a card for the cheapest/ slowest option. So if you are looking to sell for the maximum profit I'd recommend you make an excel table to weigh up if the profit if they're sold ungraded is significantly lower than profit on an estimated grade for each card! factor in all the selling & shipping fees. Also factor in Upcharge costs from PSA. If you don't know what these are find out! Then you just put the two calculations side by side (or 3 if you want to compare CGC also), some cards will lose expected value by getting them graded and others will increase it. Also bear in mind the wait times are around 10 months atm! I was going to send off 250 cards but since this news I have recalculated and I'm now only sending 150.
