It often appears, accessing, repairing or cleaning of brake pads, is a very complicated affair. It's actually not. It's very easy to DIY, especially if are travelling long distances and you need to keep both the Rear and Front brakes in shape.
This video shows in details how you can take the brake pads out, clean and put them back again.
If you find the video useful, please do give a thumbs-up.
Happy and safe riding.

Mine 2023 model interceptor has just one cotterpin at the inner side. On removing the pin, I tried to push rod out but it didn't move a bit. Tried a lil hammering with screwdriver, but still the rod didn't come out. Any suggestions?

Don't use any more force. Take it to the service guys and see how they do it. I am not exactly familiar with the design of the 2023 brake assembly; hence, I may not be able to extend a proper suggestion. Cheers!

I lost one of the rear pins during cleaning. Is it possible to get a spare from a shop. If so what should I ask for ( I mean the name of the pin).

I don't exactly know whats the name of the the pin, but you can ask for brake pad rod pin.

@@WanderingSom okay let’s see. Ps the rear pads are worn unevenly, the inner pad is half the outer one. Why is that?
@WanderingSom
@WanderingSom Жыл бұрын
@@crazydude9496 three reasons that I could think of, 1) poor quality of brake pads, 2) disc not straight or aligned, and 3) uniform pressure not getting applied. Its needs to changed, better visit RE Service.

Hi Bro, I live in Caribbean I imported Gt 650 from Hyderabad ,when I was in India I ride my bike and the brakes are very good but now it not holding tight when I apply my back breaks it appears like it sliding on disc, I watched your video and did the cleaning but the problem remains the same and my millage is just 1600 km . can you suggest why i having this problem or do i need a new pads?
@WanderingSom
@WanderingSom 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Vaseem, I wouldn't if the weather of the Caribbeans got anything to do with it, but maybe worth a check. While cleaning or during any point of time, do you think any greasy material could have come in contact with the brake pad? If yes, then certainly you gotto change the pads. Also check the disc ... is it alright or got damaged during transit. Lemme also do some research and dwell with the possible reason. Till then, ride safe

Are the rear brake pads same on 350cc and the interceptor? One mechanic was telling me that its the same but interceptor gets a copper plated ones. Price given to me was rs 2700 for interceptor and rs 230 for the 350 cc . More than ten times the price difference. Can someone enlighten me on this topic. Thank you
@WanderingSom
@WanderingSom 4 жыл бұрын
The brake pads of both the quite different. 350 has the organic hence cheaper. Interceptor has Copper sintered ... hence much more expensive.
@sudheerr5439

@@WanderingSom The mechanic said to me that the same brake pads can fit on both bikes. So i was curious about this. Life of 230 rs wala is around 9000 kms. Whereas life of the 2700 rs wala for interceptor is expected around 11000 kms. If thats the case you can replace the pads ten times over for the same cost. If the size is the same , it must fit without issues. If you have any updates on this topic please inform. Thank you for your reply.

Even im confused with the same doubt on the size. Recently during the 3rd service i replaced the brake pads (front: sintered one and the rear: Classic's organic one) the service guys recommended to do so. For the frst day it was fone. But then i hear a loun squeezing noise which doesn't seem to the normal noise with new pads. And the rear rotor is very hot than usual. So still looking out for a solution. The main doubt is with the thickness of the pad itself. If you guys have already found something. Pls post it hear. Thanks

@sudheerr5439 3 жыл бұрын
@@sathyasakthi8357 are you still getting the noise or have you got it rectified. ? If the RE people are recommending it maybe we can go ahead. Even a local RE mechanic also told me this point. The noise in your brakes could be due to improper positioning of the pads . Get it rechecked.

Hi sir. After cleaning the front pads for my INT650 I got brake noise while applying full brake on the front. There was no noise before. How to fix this ?
@WanderingSom
@WanderingSom 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Karthi, Thanks for writing in. How did you clean the brake (pads)? Hope you didn't apply any cleaning agent on it? If you rubbed the pads on a sand paper kind of thing, hope you had kept it on an even surface? Take the brake pads out, and install them again. Maybe they did not fit in well. If the problem still persists, suggest visiting the RE Workshop. Happy n safe riding. Cheers!

You seem to be from india so stock parts might be cheaper but here in the Philippines, it is $40 to replace the pads front and back. I managed to find a replacement. We share the same pads with ktm and Kawasaki Rouser 200ns so that is what i buy. It seems to be performing just as great as the original and it only cost me $8 to replace both. Mind you my 650 is used daily. I manage to clock 40,000 km in my first year of using the bike, my daily commute is 90km during week days and 150km during weekends. The rouser brakes lasted as long as the original parts so i am happy with it.
