Fuel filters are known for causing a heater to not start or smoke when they start to restrict the fuel. If your heater is struggling to start after you replaced the atomizer screen or if it is smoking while it is running I would replace the fuel filter. There are a lot of variables from fuel quantity to depth of fuel standpipe in the tank.

Thank you, @Traveledtwo , for the added pro tip. Much appreciated.

Mike, I installed a Webasto Airtop 2000 STC (petrol) yesterday and am having issues getting the fuel pump to operate correctly. When plugged in, the Webasto's blower fan turns on, but the fuel pump does not operate. I tried your method (starting at time = 0:45 of your video) of grounding one of the pump's terminals and pulsing 12V power to the other terminal. Each time I pulse power, I hear one click within the pump. I believe this tells me that the pump is good, but that I may have an open circuit. How does one find the source of the open circuit? I have triple and quadruple checked each of the electrical connections and they are all secure.

Please note the electrical connector is NOT always the high side. Sometimes it is on the inlet rather than the outlet side. This is the case for the Hydronic S3 supplied fuel pump, part number 22 4550 05. It may be true for others as well. When doing this maintenance make note of the orientation of the existing fuel pump.
@EberspaecherNorthAmerica11 ай бұрын
Correct, connector orientation varies for different fuel metering pump styles. Install the fuel pump according to the installation instruction for the specific heater you are installing.

Ok where is this thing located please? Before i tear apart the heater again just wondering if it was hiding in the cover somewhere because I didn't look hard enough
@danpaul0004 жыл бұрын
It's not part of the heater unit itself, but located along the fuel line between the heater and the fuel tank. Likely attached to the underside of the chassis of your vehicle.

So.. I installed my D2L heater with the electrical connector of the fuel pump on the low side, but it's running fine. I mean, wouldn't I run into problems pretty quick if I installed the pump incorrectly?
@EberspaecherNorthAmerica Жыл бұрын
The new D2L heater features a redesigned pump with the electrical connector on the opposite side of the pump. For these new fuel pumps having the connector on the low side is recommended. I hope that answers your question, Sages 101. But of not, feel free to message us again. Aways happy to help.

@Eberspaecher North America yes I went and double checked, it's installed correctly. Thank you for the reply 😁👍🏻

its pretty rare to have to replace the filter, the pump does not create a whole lot of suction to clog with debris. your tank really has to have a lot of contaminants to clog such a low-pressure pump.
@EberspaecherNorthAmerica25 күн бұрын
Yes, you are correct. The filter does a pretty good job of protecting the pump. But there are occasions. Especially with older units. But thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

Hello Mike, I have a Great West Vans Legend SE which is a Mercedes Sprinter 3500 cassis class B RV from 2014. it uses an Espar system for hot water, and cabin heat. The hot water and heat stopped working. It was making a whining sound and would shut off, now it doesn't even do that. I think it's the fuel pump and filter, maybe a dirty filter put the pump under too much stress. I have not been able to find anyone to help fix it at all in OH. Can you advise where I might get a pump and filter? Thank you.
@Traveledtwo4 жыл бұрын
I hate to say but it does not sound like a fuel pump because when they do not work there is no sound at all. It kind of sounds like the heater is locked out or has an active fault code. Some controllers have diagnostics in them and if yours does it can also clear codes. If you are locked out from too many no starts (10) you will need to clear the codes to clear the lockout. If you have an active code it will keep your heater from operating and that code can be retrieved through a controller also if it has diagnostics. If you want to manually test the fuel pump, unplug it and ground one terminal of the pump and apply 12 volts to the other to see if it clicks. It is not polarity sensitive and if it clicks it is good. If you have no way to get or clear codes I would not order a pump until you get it to a dealer to get the codes. Ohio has some great dealers and there is a list on the web site, www.eberspaecher-na.com. You can also get any of the technical manuals on the site with making a password. You can also call the tech line at 800-387-4800 and they can direct you. I hope some of this helps,Mike

Kerosene and diesel are the same thing
@AJ-qn6gd2 жыл бұрын
@@circusboy90210 no they are not, kerosene is thinner than diesel and has less lubricity also burns at a higher temp but can be used in a diesel heater with little or no side effects just don’t run it in a modern (common rail) Diesel engine it will ruin the pump in no time.

Code 52?
@EberspaecherNorthAmericaАй бұрын
Code 52 means the heater has done a complete diagnostic of all the electrical components and they are good. The heater did not start because of a mechanical issue like plugged fuel filter, atomizer screen and ventilation hole plugged or fuel line fuel level issue.
