How to Service your MTB Fork + Replace Seals

In this video I will show you how to service a rockshox mountain bike fork and replace the fork seals. The steps are very similar for a fox fork as well. You will need to buy some supplies like oil and potentially seals but it is worth the money. Servicing your mtb fork will keep it running smooth for much longer as well as prolonging its life in general. For the proper oil amounts, contact the sram or fox website and they have a helpful chart.

Awesome video! I just performed service on my fork using your video, and it works great. The only thing I did differently which worked a lot easier for me was to put the foam rings in, before putting the seals. I first tried your method but didn't succeed, so I had to pop my seals back out and insert the rings first and then put the seals back in.

my suspension is different, it has small open hole below on both sides,It has no bolts... When i open lid cover for putting oil, it drains from those holes. Can u make a video on that? I cant figure it out whats my suspension type.

I believe rockshox recommends every 50 to 60 hours.

You do not, you should put some suspension grease around the inside of them after they are installed though.

Just curious. With a fork that dirty, why didn’t you pull the damper and air spring out of the stanchions for some love? Seems like it would be worth doing since you already had the lowers off. IMO. Good video though. Thanks.

Use 10w30 oil from either rockshox or maxima plus

Both sides will need lower oil irrespective of air or coil in rockshox pike or lyriks case 0w30 10 mil each side

No, it does not mix well with the oil and could also cause corrosion.

My seal just fell off and just pops back up whenever my fork goes down. Do I have to replace the seals or just pop them back into place?
