How to Set a Timex Ironman Triathlon Watch

Thank you very much, This is a replacement for a Safety Watch I was given in 2000. The watch was still working when I lost it a week or so ago In 23 years I did replace the battery and band a few times. When it comes time to set this watch I will look this video up and follow your instructions again.

Set Time 1. press and hold upper left Set button until screen read set 2. press lower left Mode button until screen reads Time 1 then press again 3. upper right Indigo button increases and Stop/Reset decreases 4. press mode to cycle thru Hr Min Sec Day Month Date 12/24hr MM/DD Chime Beep and make appropriate changes 5. press upper left Set button to finalize changes

Excellent video, I dread resetting this and the car 2x a year. The video helped enormously. The car radio is such a hassle, I literally disconnect then reconnect the battery. This video, however had me 'fall back' with ease.

Neither the owners manual nor this video covers what to do on Feb 28 of a leap year. It is now 2024 (leap year) and the watch date ticked over from 28/02 to 01/03. So the day of the week name (eg Tue) is now correct but the day of the month number is not. I can't find any way to increase the day of the month number without also increasing the day of the week name ?

When cycling through the settings, my watch skips the day of the week, going from seconds to month and the day of the month. Anything I can do? I don't think it did this before I changed the battery.

There's no YEAR setting? Odd, but ok. I got here because I was searching for that Year function on an NOS Timex iControl Expedition watch. I've never had a digital watch where I cannot select the year. So, I suppose we just manually adjust the date during leap years.

Yeah, it's really odd. But I suppose they assume if you are able to correct the time for daylight savings time that you can figure that out once every four years?

True. Though, this makes me like my Casio digital watches even more - I can set the date completely and never have to think about it again - i.e., I can trust my watch to know today's date better than I do. HA HA HA. Useful when you're getting old.

That's a good question. I just looked at mine and the only number I see is 860 on the back. I just did a google search and that didn't bring up anything useful. I know it's old because I have had it for a long time, but I don't know the specific year. Sorry I couldn't help!

The one I have is fake since the upper left button have 'Light' button instead of Set🤦‍♂️ Whenever I press it, the watch starts to blink and everything resets. Holding it doesn't do anything either (timex WR50M)

The Chime function will set off an alarm every hour. I guess this is to let you know time is passing? I have never activated this feature, so I am not sure exactly how it sounds. I believe when it goes off, you just need to press any button on the watch to silence it again.

As you scroll through and set the time, you will see a little "A" or "P" appear above the seconds. Take a close look at the video around the 0:20-0:25 mark. Hope that helps!

Sorry, I do not. I just have this one model from Timex. From my experience with several Garmin watches, they all appear to have some similar menu structures. So perhaps the various timex watches share common button uses? Just guessing there. Hope you find your answer!
