New subscriber here- I'm also new to playing the fiddle. My dream goal is to work up to a jam session, and my short-term goal is to learn three songs by heart. Thanks for the encouragement.

My dream goal is to sail and jam as a way to meet people, and connect with the places I visit. The one barrier I feel, is people play really really fast at sessions, so the entry level seems impossibly high. I've seen slow jams in the states. But I'm not sure it's as much of a thing in the UK. There used to be a "bring an instrument and learn by ear course" in London which was awesome. But it stopped. Anyway 😂 2025, I'll give this a go! Any festival suggestions in the states that you'd recommend to students to bring their fiddles along to jam as beginner/intermediate? Could be a great mid term goal 😊

There’s a bluegrass festival in Cumberland Maryland called DelFest. The Del McCoury Band hosts the festival and they have instruction the week leading up to the festival weekend. You could check it out. I went last year (not to learn, just to listen to the music) and it was great.
