How To Set SONOTUBE Piers // Setting Piers For Barn Build // Building Your Own Barn // Barn Build

In this video, Greg and Erik (our brother-in-law) set the 18 inch sonotube piers for our barn foundation. They take you step by step and share how they set the piers. There is a lot of measuring and measuring again involved. It's important to do it right. This is a big build that starts with these important first steps and it's important to remember that building a barn (or anything, really) starts with a good foundation.
We are excited to bring you along on these beginning steps of our barn build.
The goal for this summer is to get the slab poured (mid-June) and then to mill A LOT of lumber to use for the build.

We have shared the process of building this sawmill cover from the very beginning. We have a Woodland Mills HM130 Max sawmill and live in North Idaho. This sawmill cover / sawmill shed is vital to continue milling in the winter months, but it will also be a great way to keep out of the sun during the summer months, and of course all of the rain, in between! We are excited to complete this project, so we can continue milling lumber for our barn build.
Here are the specs on the sawmill cover / sawmill shed we are building:
3 posts in the front
4 posts in the back
Overall dimensions are 15 feet wide by 36 feet long
Longest beam is 28 feet
Front part of the lean to roof is 11'9" and back is 8'
It will have a 3 :12 pitch
Posts and beams are going to be 7 1/2" x 7 1/2"
We will be sharing the entire build!

Good job. You will never regret taking the time to get the foundation level and square. It makes everything that come after so much easier. Trying to compensate for unlevel never seems to work out. This is going to be a great project to follow.
