Super helpful video!! Just in case anyone was wondering for the latest retropie 4.2 at least. You DONT need to add the bios file to the ROMS folder as well. Placing it in the BIOS folder is all you need. Finally got metal slug working!! thanks again.

I'm doing exactly what it says to do on this video. I have tried multiple bios files. I have bought a second sd card and tried on that. Nothing works. All I see are the same 2 emulator fbneo and fbneoCD. What am I missing?

Dude you are a nice guy. Explaining helpful but only for you. We got several problems and you dont reply. To all the guys who saying the roms doesnt load. The problem is with the roms. Not the emulator or raspberry. I had 3 different types of metal slug 1. And only 1 works properly. I have tons of samurai shodown versions. And none of them are working. Maybe we need another emulator for samurai shodown. And for all the other games. But i dont know which emulator.

To install optional emulators, run the RetroPie-Setup script under the RetroPie Menu in Emulationstation, or by typing "sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh" in the terminal. When you are in the RetroPie-Setup menu, select "Manage Packages", from there you can choose to install optional or experimental emulators.

I have 3 different neogeo.zip bios files, each with a different MD5 hash from one shown. If you actually go into the zip file you will see zipped rom, bin and sp1 files. The one I finally got to work had 25 files zipped up. Also I used "pifba" as the emulator. Not all games will work, so it's pretty hit and miss.

Sean Wu a lot of other people have the same problem as do I. I have lr fbalpha but no lr fba. It isn't in my list of optional packs either

Hi. I have a problem to set up my Logitech wired controller for Neo Geo. All other emulators cooperated with that controller.... except Neo Geo. I'm on Raspberry pi 3, Retropie 4.1 I can play through my wireless keyboard but not chances for gamepad. Any ideas how to sorted out.

It seems like the whole getting retropi games to work shindig is just a bitch sometimes. Everyone including myself have struggled getting games to work, I do everything right, but some game files just don't work. Out of all the games I've put on the retropie 70% just go to a black screen, and back to the menu. This video has done a great job, and i got neogeo running with a couple games. But it seems to be damn near impossible to get a straight answer on where to get the right file that works. I have to download three of each game just to see which one works! sometimes none of them work. so frustrating! wish you could just drag, and drop, and be done. I've spent more time fumbling around trying to get shit to work than actually playing games lmao

So I've downloaded the neogeo.zip from emuparadise, placed it into both BIOS and roms eogeo and set the emulator to lr-fba\lr-fba-next (I tried both) and when I try to launch a game, it simply goes back to the menu screen. I'm running retropie on the raspberry pi 3 and I'm not sure why this occurs.

ETA PRIME I already watched that video and tried it. I don't think it's that I'm doing anything wrong but rather the fact that my version of retropie doesn't work well with neogeo. Only a couple neogeo games has worked on my raspberry pi while most don't work.

so i have a rasp pi zero running retro pi 4.2 without wifi. when i take my sd card out of the pi and put it back into my laptop there arent any folders like the "bios, configs, roms, and splash screens". so what do i do to load the neo geo bios? all my other emulators and games already work on it. thanx for any help.

It is a linux file system, which cannot be read on your Windows laptop. You can sftp or putty into PI directly.

If you have a Raspberry Pi 2 or 3, you'll want to use lr-fba-next. It is the latest and most up-to-date FBA core. If you're using a Pi Zero or Pi 1, then you'll probably want to use PiFBA. It's older, so it doesn't support as many ROMs as lr-fba-next, but runs faster. If you really wanted to run lr-fba, you can install optional and experimental emulator cores (and drivers etc) by running the RetroPie-Setup script under the RetroPie menu in Emulationstation. You will find the cores and drivers under "Manage Packages"

Miguel I was having the same problem as you. I downloaded the correct neo geo bios and it worked like a charm www.emuparadise.me/M.A.M.E._-_Multiple_Arcade_Machine_Emulator_ROMs/Neo-Geo/15030-download Also for some reason when i put the bios in the folders created on my flash drive and then plugged it into my pi it did not actually copy over the bios file. So make sure you connect wireless and actually drag the neo geo bios file to the bios directory.
