No. No. and Yes you need a Ledger Nano X to use the mobile app (Ledger Live Mobile, not mobile MetaMask). You will need to transfer any assets you have in existing wallets to your new Ledger-based account (leaving the old ones empty). Once you have a wallet set up, you cannot "add" ledger support. You can also use Keystone wallet with the mobile version of Metamask shop.keyst.one/products/keystone-pro

Yes, in the portfolio section of Ledger Live, it will always give you the current value of all of your crypto in US dollars or whatever currency you choose in the settings. So whenever you enter Ledger Live, you can see whether the value of your crypto has gone up or down.

Unfortunately, you cannot update the firmware using your phone either by Bluetooth or cable connection. You must use a computer to update your firmware.

Not blaming anyone. After watching your great video and decided to get nano x. Arrived today and when trying to charge with the usb cable that comes with it. Got an error with "battery can't charge". Does this thing have a warranty at all? I ordered from their website directly. Update: the USB cable comes with Nano is faulty. Changed my phone original cable works perfectly.

Good to hear. Sorry about your inconvenience. I’m glad the alternate cable did the trick. I think if you fill out a support ticket, you might be able to get a replacement cable from Ledger. It might take a while for them to respond especially right now during the Black Friday shopping season but it’s worth a shot.

I made sure that the Bluetooth is e a led on the Nana x device and on my mobile phone. I am using android 12 phone which is acceptable as they require at least android 7. I have had two failed Ledger wallets out of the box. You don't make it clear where /how to attach USB cable to phone or computer what? All crypto is stored on their respective blockchains. it is never "in the Ledger" the ledger device is a keychain that holds the private keys to unlock access to crypto stored on a blockchain. And yes people can see your "public" blockchain address. That is how crypto works. That is how people can send you crypto. But only you can transfer crypto out of the blockchain address to other places because you and only you have the "private" key (stored on your ledger). The private key on the Ledger is stored offline. It never leaves the device. It is only used to authorize transactions

No, not really. While an exchange like Coinbase may keep your crypto in a wallet. They might also use other types of accounting procedures to keep track of your crypto. You don't really know because they are the ones holding the crypto. It's really only "on the blockchain" when you transfer it into your own wallet.

I see many people talking about how I should have the ledger app on a completely separate phone that I don’t use daily. One that I don’t even bring out of the house. Like you mentioned, the ledger DEVICE holds the keys to the coins I own which digitally exist on their specific blockchain and the ledger APP is just a means to view how much and which assets I have keys to?

I agree. The private keys are held on the device keeping the ledger app on a separate phone is inconvenient and unnecessary. No one can steal your crypto off the phone unless they have the device. The crypto is never stored on the phone.

Yea Bluetooth is nice and why I bought the Nano x because I only use mobile. However Metamask Mobile does not support ledger so it’s useless. Also Ledger does not warn you of this issue. That is the selling point with the Nano x, Bluetooth/mobile so why not warn prospective customers that MM Mobile will not work?

Ledger does not really claim to be compatible with Metamask Mobile. But I get your point. If you have access to a computer, Ledger works with the desktop version of Metamask. The Keystone wallet works with MetaMask mobile shop.keyst.one/products/keystone-pro (using QR codes for authorization)
