Great video. One thing for your viewers that want to do this on a double port compressor and run tools without wearing out their arms or regulator knob is to buy a trap with a regulator rated to your normal pressure. Doing that should allow you to set your pressure at the tank to the normal pressure for your air tools while adjusting at the trap down to the eighth inch hose and airbrush limit.

Very clear and comprehensive info. You must look into 1/8" quick releases with built in air valves. Then you do not need to adjust the wall mounted gauge. I'm sure by this time you do not need to know the exact air pressure you are spraying at. Harder & Steenbeck and Grex makes great ones. If you install the small watertrap before your small quick release, you can use it on both airbrushes, not just the Micron. On the video the compressor sound quite loud. I have a compressor with the same motor and can say that is is not as loud as it seems. For years I painted in the room right next to the bedroom while my wife was sleeping.

Terrific video! Instead of screwing the air hose to the regulator inlet, I installed a female quick-connect in the regulator inlet, letting me use an air hose with a male quick-connect. Second, you don't need to completely drain the tank on the compressor after using it, they're fine if you leave them full. Just crack the drain valve for a second or two before and after using to drain any built-up condensation in the bottom of the tank. Finally, it's more convenient for me to leave the regulator on the compressor high (say, 75PSI or even more), and then adjust the small regulator near the airbrush to the pressure I want the airbrush to see. That way if I want to change pressure, it's right there at my workstation.

Totally awesome tutorial! This was a great help. BTW, I use noise cancelling ear buds to listen to music. Can’t hear the compressor in the same room.🎶😃🎶 for an extra $18.00 I purchased a combo regulator / dryer. Gauge is on front and the pressure can be adjusted right there, at the work bench. I set the tank regulator at 80psi and set my work bench regulator at 25 psi because I use 0.2 and 0.3 tip needles.

There you go! So many videos about the small kits... but One to rule them All, yours! I already have a 2 tank 5 gallon compressor similar to yours and wanted to know if I could use IT with an airbrush. At the "Toys for Men" store, I was surprised to see an airbrush kit for the first time, and when I inquired about the setup, I was shown the hobby kits with the pump but no one knew about whether it could be connected to the bigger compressor. So, Thank You for the video THX 😊

Great video. I bought rather oversized compressor myself, but with built in moisture trap and quick release going out from it. It turns out you can get airbrush hose with female 1/8 on one side and female 1/4 on the other, so all I had to do is get male 1/4 quick release, srew it in and be done.

Thank you so much. Great at explaining. I am trying to get set up with my little 1hp, 1 gal Senco compressor with a Paasche for now. And, everyone has been telling me you can't get a 1/4 NPT(national pipe thread)-1/8 BSP(British standard Pipe). Paasche has a little tiny threads on air brush, and 1/4 NPT on other end. Where I guess all the other air brushes have 1/8 bsp-1/8bsp on their hoses. My compressor takes 1/4 NPT.

This was something that I was delving into, instead of buying an airbrush compressor when I was looking to use this medium, ( buy airbrush, need paint, can I use craft paint, oh need hose, ah they have quick connects, damn cleaner and thinner is over expensive for what you get, can I make my own, phew 😮‍💨 😅, and so on). As my plans for this was not so much modeling, or using on canvas or lures, but, for accents on my small woodworking projects. Glittering, faux finish, antiquing, etc, and not just using stain or paint or clear coats. I already had a small workshop compressor from Canadian Tire, and the only thing missing was a water filter, therefore I needed the extra connectors to set it up, which I was looking into. You did give me something new, as I did not think of using one of my 1/4” hoses first, then water filter, and the reason why. Though in all fairness, I did not know or look at the acronyms NPT and BSP, ONLY focusing on 1/4” and 1/8” connectors with what was necessary in male and female. Nicely done on validating and adding what I wanted/needed to do. Great job, as I found this vid by accident looking at other airbrush criteria. Thanks, and cheers. 👍(Oh, fun looking bunny footwear 😂)

@ChairMan71196 made me think: the muffler on the air ¿intake? of my machine doesn't stay in place (I broke it by accident) and I notice a very obvious difference in sound when it falls off from the vibration. It needs a minimum of 1 foot clearance all around, but some sound absorbing material could be used to reduce the sound even more. I also wanted to mention to you, because I find you're sharing good info, my machine is a bit quieter than some other models because it uses oil to lubricate the pumps piston. On my basement cement slab, I only use a rag under the pump mainly to catch the water and debris coming from the tanks when I drain them. If I were on carpet or a finished floor, I would use a cardboard or piece of wood wider then the pump under the rag - under the pump to ensure the carpet/ floor stays clean and to catch any oil spill from the compressor. I'm not the most knowledgeable person on compressors. I got mine a while ago to paint house doors which turned out nice and to power tools while I was renovating. I recently used an airless paint sprayer for some furniture pieces and it does produce less over-spray but I'm not sure about the results. I might need more practice. Keep making videos; you seem to do them right.
@ChairMan71196
@ChairMan71196 Жыл бұрын
@@ThinkerTinker74 thanks guy. It does take a lil practice to make the paint job perfect, like anything in life “practice makes perfect”. You can prolly get a rubber coupling to fix your intake at a hardware store if you have a piece sticking out on the air box that is. If not I’d get some epoxy and the right size pvc and make my own if it’s broke off flush with the air box, just mak sure one piece is small enough to slide in the box so you can epoxy on the inside and outside so it’ll be stronger then use a coupling that sizes up to what size you need ( I forget what it’s called). Ive snorkeled many bikes, it’s easy. On the paint I’d start out with a light coat it (like can see the background light coat) help’s with adhesion then you can lay it on a bit thicker, 4 coats tops. Ive also worked in construction and done a lot of painting lol. I don’t really make videos so there’s that lol have a good one.

Paasche also makes their hoses with a 1/4” NPT female end so you can thread directly onto an air compressor hose. Good video! I’ve been running the Milwaukee cordless air compressor, curious how the Makita would stack up to it. I went with Milwaukee because all of my tools are Milwaukee and I have far too many accessories and batteries to switch brands. I will say, though the Milwaukee is ridiculously quiet, if I had a speaker playing music loud and my Milwaukee kicked on I probably wouldn’t hear it. I also like that it’s batteryoperated and portable. However, it will drain the small batteries so fast so you will have to invest $200-250 on a bigger battery. I’m in construction so I have a crap load of batteries anyway.

Once you're roughly dialled in the desired pressure at the tank, you can zero it in by adjusting it while spraying air through your brush to get the exact spray pressure you want, rather than just estimating an overshoot of 5-10 psi. 👍 As well as draining the moisture trap after every session, also use the drain at the bottom of the tank about once a month to clear any moisture in there as well. I just watched a video of Barbatos Rex demonstrating a new compressor and he mentioned that he had forgotten the tank drain on his old one for about a year and it blew out because of the amount of water in it.

You potentially could, it was recommended to run a normal hose though as the pressure is strong from these machines, that a 1/8” connection can’t handle. The setup I show here is recommended.

You can remove the red plastic collar on the moisture trap/regulator and stick it through the wall mount hole from underneath, and then screw in the red collar from the top. This will firmly fix the moisture trap on the clamp.😊

FYI: The white tape is called Teflon tape or PTFE. Wrap tape clockwise around male thread and two full wraps.

The red ring on the trap is a nut which secures it to the bracket. Your gauge will then be the correct way round .

@DeeJayBeStudios do you have to have a pressure gauge on the regulator moisture trap? I picked up a Central Pneumatic 1/4” mini air filter from Harbor Freight. It says it removes excess water and dirt particles from the air line. 60 SCFM at 100 PSI maximum flow capacity. Manual drain. It does not have a pressure gauge on it. It only has a hole on each side to connect the lines to. Did I get the wrong thing?

You don’t need a pressure gauge, but it’s helpful in seeing what you are spraying at.

So it's about a 4-5x cost investment over the old system. I wonder if there's a middle ground, especially when the new compressor is not running at full capacity.

The valve on the bottom of the compressor tank is actually to drain the moisture from the tank.
@mmiller2978

Yes but draining the air when done prevents a lot of the moisture from building up in the first place.

Actually I think you can unscrew the red ring on the gauge to mount it to the wall bracket instead of just handing it there.

You do know that that red ring on the regulator is to be unscrewed, and a mounting bracket can be placed between or rather below the red ring, and then the ring can be tightened to permanently mountain to regulator

I just wanna say that I converted my milwaukee compressor for airbrushing and its light years ahead of other compressors! So quiet, no oil, small, can be moved around with ease and I can dial the air down to 1 psi if needed. Not to mention ive never gone past 1 battery bar with hours of air brushing for days.
