Looked at comments, not disappointed. This sweetheart is painting horses, everyone learning about airbrushes is painting for wargaming... with no small portion of a grim dark future where there is only war. haha. Great video. Honestly gave me confidence on what to buy to get started. Very concise and clear information.

Young lady thank you so much for your videos. I wanted to find no BS videos on technique , how to with what and you nail it. You don't ramble on about how your mother's, Brothers ,cousins, third Uncle ,twice removed blah blah blah blah blah. No BS, talk about what you know and have learned and how to get it done. Your artwork is beautiful! I've learned a lot from watching your videos though I airbrush dye on leather items that I make. Keep up the good work and I hope you make crap tons on money on your videos.

@@DeeJayBeStudios You are very welcome. You are quite talented. I can figure most things out. I'm a journeyman electrician , journeyman millwright, A.S.E Master certified automotive technician, very accomplished Tig welder, machinist and I enjoy leather working. I know natural skill and talent when I see it, and you have it. You didn't ask but I've got some advice you may find useful. Don't let some ass hat negative nelly get to you over any of your work or videos. Use negative feedback to your benefit. You are very good at what you do, use that information to get better. Take good care of your hands and your eyes. I'm not joking here. I'm 50 now and my hands don't function like they used to. Keep that strong focus on health and safety you have going on. Always ware uv sunglasses, not cheap POS ones. You will thank me for that in 30 years. Lastly, you should look into learning some basic leather work and start airbrushing leather. Wouldn't have to be an animal per say. Your eye for color is remarkable, and great detail. People would go bat shit ga ga over what I believe you could lay down on leather. If you want some to get started with, I'll send you some.

Hi there, I have just finished building a timber rocking horse, but now I need to paint it. Stipple brushes just aren't producing the exact effect I want, so I thought I would look at airbrushing. Your video is wonderful - clear, concise and so informative. I feel confident I can now purchase the correct tool for the job. Congrats on a great video.

Really enjoyed your video, although I confess I'm not really a beginner, I own several airbrushes, but I like watching videos for beginners since there is always something new to learn. You picked a great airbrush to showcase! As it could easily last 20+ years Some of the airbrushes made in the early 1900s are not only still around, but they work as well as when they were first made.

You're right. There is nothing wrong with your idea. What I was trying to say is that buying cheap Chinese-made compressors is a bad choice from an economic viewpoint. Chinese hardware won't last as long as quality hardware. Quite often you pay more for the Chinese hardware because of price to "how long it will last" ratio. There's also matter of comfort. Good compressor means less frustration :) Ps. Sorry for my funny English. I'm Polish ^^

Good video! #1 from my experience, BUY GOOD PAINT!! You get what you pay for. Vallejo is my favorite. If you have crappy cheap paint then it doesn't matter what equipment you own, bad paint produces bad results. If you have to thin acrylic, don't use water, use reducer. I started with top tier equipment and could not get it right until I realized that it was the cheap paint that I bought as a big set at a low price. Got a bottle of Vallejo model air and it all came together.

I’ve used an Iwata airbrush when I taught my friend how to properly use it but I’ve been a Badger user for more than 20 years now. To me they have the same quality and Badger had come out with their top of the line airbrushes like the Badger Renegade RK-1 Krome. What I like about Badger is that I can personally bring my airbrush to their shop to be fixed in Franklin Park, Illinois and its about 45 minutes drive from my place. At times I can even wait while they fix the airbrush. Thank you for your very informative video and I will share this with my friends. Be safe
@Dude_Slick
@Dude_Slick 2 жыл бұрын
The quality of Badger is not quite up to the level of Iwata. Badger makes good brushes for Tshirt artist and model painting. But for automotive and fine art, Iwata as well as H&S, Creos, and a few others are in another league. Not that a Renegade or Sotar 20/20 aren't able to pull some very fine detail, but not with the consistency of a Micron, or infinity. A great artist can make anything work, but better tools make for less headaches. This has been my experience anyway.

I've owned an HP-BC for over 30 years. Awesome airbrush. Advantage of siphon feed, Large bottle capacity. Great when doing larger projects. When I purchased it, it was going to be used for a few murals. So I needed a larger capacity. After the job was completed, I realized it is a bit cumbersome when doing small scale models. (1/76 scale etc) I do have a kinda under mount/side cup, more maneuverable, but as you said, there is a danger of tipping and dripping paint. Gotta be a bit more careful. You learn the hard way....Lol (BTW, side mounts can be a bit more awkward to handle when using a large cup. Keep it in mind.) Great vid. Thanks for sharing. Sure it will help beginners. And yup, Iwata is great! Cheers.

Great video and thanks for doing this. It's hard to find a clear buying guide with peoples' brand preferences and encouraging spending $300+ on one's first airbrush. The only piece of advice I would add is DON'T spend $25-$30 on an airbrush. The brush will work fine until you have to clean it, and then you'll spend more time disassembling and cleaning than you will airbrushing. I made that mistake and when I finally invested $100 CAD on a Badger Patriot I found ease of use and maintenance to be the biggest plus.

I’ve dabbled in airbrushing for a few years. I have a cheap Testors Aztec that I’ve had for about 20 years. It’s my main “Go to” because I can lay smooth gloss coats with reduced enamels. I’ve also purchased a Badger Creshendo for a bit higher price, but I’ve been a little nervous about using it. I’m getting back into modeling, and I know it’s a much better brush. I’ve been looking at KZbin videos to get me to use the Badger, and thanks for explaining what you’ve done. I’m gonna give the old Badger a try. Wish me luck! I’m gonna start an old kit that’s been on my shelf a long time. I’ve acquired a bunch of out of production kits, and want to be sure that my lack of knowledge wouldn’t be the reason why they might look bad. 😬

I have the same compressor but without the tank, it also shuts off when you are not spraying. Your video makes it sound a lot louder than they actually are, so dont let this put you off people.... Best thing I found for cleaning the inside of the airbrush is the interdental brushes, they seem to come in the same sizes as many nozzles, 0.2 0.3 0.4mm etc and they are far softer than the nasty wire brushes you get in cleaning kits. Very nice video for people getting into airbrushing, also came here from a mini-wargaming source :-)

As my first best AB I purchased a PS289 0.3mm GSI Creos, using it for about 9 months, very happy. Nex two were PS290 0.5 trigger type and ps270 0.2mm. these are not cheap but reliable. For dirty painting (black paint or primer for example) I'm using cheaper ABs. These are Fengda ABs. Well, I have from Fengda almost the same setup 0.2mm Fengda BD-180, 0.5mm BD320, 0.8mm BD186, also additional parts for 0.2, 0.3, 0.5 mm needle set-up. I still have my first AB, in Poland it is called Magma AB-130E but actually it is Fengda BD130. It was my first AB (now I'm using it only for pre-shading), received it as a gift 1year ago, swapped nozzle/needle from chinese to japanese (was able to get a nozzle and needle from ps270 only for 25$) so outside it is a cheep chinese airbrush but from inside it is ps270 (of course there is a problem when it doesn't spray, so regulation of nozzle cap is needed, but all the time it works). One more AB I have (for free due to damage the delivery service did, so the store didn't have a new kit to send me and left me with money and AB kit) is NeoEco NCT-SJ83. It is cheap but it is a good quality AB. I would like to test Anest Iwata ABs but maybe later. And would like to have a Meiji MP-3 ab, I have bigger spray guns from this manufacturer Finer-Core 13 and F410 1.5mm, very satisfied. Have a good day 😉

Good presentation and explanation. Just a few amendments. With single actions you only press down, not pull back. You need to drain that water from your compressor's water trap. Hope you drain the tank every week as well. Do not use those little brushes in your airbrush. It has a metal center and can damage the soft brass insides. That nozzle tool is not applicable to the Eclipse range. Even though it looks like you can take the nozzle apart, you should not. Even replacement nozzles come in a single unit. The head wrench is also not necessary after the first clean. You just need to tighten the head finger tight. A tip is to get a PVC hose from Iwata. They are lighter and softer. Much easier to handle then that thick braided hose. Get some quick releases for your compressor and airbrush. You do not need to unscrew everything every time. Otherwise great work. You get beautiful results with the short time you've been using it.

I’m definitely still learning myself. I’ve only been airbrushing for 2 years. Thank you for the tips. I will consider all these things for sure. I have learnt many things since posting this video as well. I appreciate a good airbrush enthusiast. Thanks for the comment

Don't forget about model railroading. I use my airbrushes for my models. Harbour Freight one for lacquer paints and a Badger 155 Anthem for acrylics. I beg to differ; Badger is the best airbrush line. My 155 Anthem will do as much as your Iwata and much cheaper. The Harbour Freight was only $89.00 with compressor and the Badger was only $58.00. Both of mine are bottom feed but can be used with colour cups.

nice video, the reason most painters know Iwata is that they also make spray guns, to paint cars, bikes, this is where most people know them.

I love your videos. Would you reveal which and how many colors you should buy as a beginner in order to be able to paint most horse colors?
