Hello! Sorry, but NO, do not do this! Given that the FS transmitters want all the switches in the "up position" to turn on, this is quite an unsafe method, as the engine will be armed when the transmitter is powered! (I know you are not supposed to turn on the transmitter after the model, but that's exactly why you set these types of safety mechanism: catch fuck ups) It is much safer to have an inactive throttle when the transmitter is turned on, and you to have to voluntarily arm your throttle when ready to fly. -Go to "Assign switches" and at "Idle mode", assign switch A (or whatever other switch you want). -The go to the "throttle curve". "Normal", change all values (L to H) to 0. Flick the A switch down and you get "Idle up" mode displayed. Here, you put 0,25,50,75,100, or whatever response curve you use to fly. There, your arming switch is set properly, and if you forget your transmitter in the armed position when turned off, it will ask you to put it in safe position when turning on next time. And there is also very little risk of triggering the engine accidentally when setting this up as well (but you do not need the model to be powered up to do it anyway). Then you set up your fail safe with a 0 throttle, so if you turn off your transmitter before your model, 0 risk of its engine to turn on (as long as you use fail-safe-able receiver). Stay safe and have fun!

​@Gregory Dahl I'm sorry: 1- You still have not explained what did props have anything to do with my initial comment? (basically, why did you write this as "reply" of my comment as it is off topic). Moreover, do you remove the props off your models after every flight? 2 - You seem to have completely missed the point. The method presented in the video is dangerous, because the transmitter powers up in the "armed" state. The whole point of a safety measure is to make it fool-proof. It should not be something extra to think about, or you are asking for incident/accident to happen. In this case, it changes nothing safety-wise to not having a throttle hold at all (as you either have to remember the proper posture of a switch, or of the throttle stick). If you take the time to set a switch for this function, do it properly. Ensuring the transmitter powers up in the "disarmed" state gives you one less thing to think about and to go wrong. Period.

Yes I agree, I just set this up on my FMS Moa with electric motor. You can not switch the transmitter on with the aux switch in the down (unarmed) position. I will undo those settings and try to set it up using your method. Cheers

Only thing from what I can see is that everytime you switch the TX on with the switch in the down position, the TX will go into warning mode, so you will have to switch it to the up position for the TX to work normally.

I have actually set mine in the idle mode on switch D then change the throttle curve in normal mode to all zero so switch D will stay in the up position when you turn the TX on without the warning alarm activating.

Finally! FIRST assign a switch, NEXT, set the >OFF< value to 0%, THEN flip your assigned switch to ON BEFORE pressing the CANCEL button to SAVE the new 0% value. Just what I needed to do to create a kill switch on SWD without my % value reverting back to the default value that I was trying to reset. You made it so SIMPLE that even this FS-i6 Newbie got it done for much welcomed propeller safety when I'm tweaking other settings or devices where accidental prop spinning could be disastrous!

Great...! Had some guys in the club ask me why I didn't have a "Kill Switch" on my Tx., in case the throttle got bumped. Now I can do it to BOTH Tx.'s, and they will be "proud" of me! (They all have Spectrum Radios, and didn't know anything about my "CHEAP" ones!) Haha! Thanks so much for all your Videos, and helping a newbie learn How to Use what he's already bought... @@DLM517 I was just learning how to fly planes a couple of years ago, and had sat my pane on the flying line - with batt. plugged in and Tx sitting by it. Someone picked up my Tx and accidentally bumped the throttle, and my plane took off by itself (good trim, I'd say!). It crashed on the other side of the field (no "Biggie" - Foamboard Plane), and was told I needed to have the "Throttle Kill Switch" in the OFF Position. Heck, I didn't know how until I saw this. Fly more (it only cost $$$ when ya crash...!)

Thanks! Just smashed my plane cause I accidently reversed the throttle channel cause the FS-6X buttons layout is wierd, why would ok move the cursor up and down but up and down don't? And hold cancel saves, makes no sense. Anyway, learned my lesson, gonna use this all the time.

If you want to achieve the same thing with fs-i6s (or any other transmitter that doesn't have a specific arm switch configuration), I Played around with the mixes and managed to create an easy arm-switch surrogate: - Set switchA as channel 10 - Enable mix1 with the following setting: - Master Ch10 - Slave Ch3 - Offset -100% - Neg 100% - Pos 100% - Result is that in the up position (the one that is required to turn on the Tx), Ch3 is forced to -100%, but in the down position (armed) full throttle control is enabled by Ch3. (swap Ch3 for your throttle channel if you are not Mode2). None of this is unique to the fs-i6s, so perhaps this trick is as old as mixes on transmitters... Have fun and be safe.

I think I see what you mean. The standard procedure is to turn on the radio and set any switch correctly, then turn on the aircraft, so that shouldn't be a problem. Also, the active position of the arming switch for can be changed so that when the tx turns on and the switches need to be in their initial position, the arm switch is inactive.

Yep. That video by Andrew Newton from many years ago is the ONLY smart way to set up these Flysky transmitters for motor kill! The only possible thing to add to it is to set that chosen switch to be one that is LEAST likely to catch in your trousers leg as you walk with it in 1 hand! ;-)

NO (maybe you can but don't) If you are setting up a quad you should assign arming in the modes tab in betaflight. If you set it up in betaflight on your flight controller it double checks some other stuf for you (like stick position, battery voltage, quad orientation,...)

Hi! That sounds like a channel mapping issue that you can usually change within the simulator control/channel settings (I don't have RF, but I've had the similar situation with other sims).

Ok cool! Do you know the size, kv, and voltage of the motor? Most of all, the kv (rpm per volt) will determine how large of a propeller it will handle. For example, an 1806 size, 2300kv motor with a 3 cell battery could spin a 5045 (5") or 6030 (6") propeller.

Hello Adam...! Great video I needed that on my Flysky FS-i6X for my Quad-copter. It's a 500 mm Quad (about 20" arm span) I'm using the Pixhawk PX4 Flight Controller, it came from China so I'm not real sure what it's going to do when I try to fly it..? I live in the Southern New Mexico Mountains and there's not too much around here for parts, mostly Internet Drone suppliers... I'm not sure where you are located but I was wondering if you could do me a huge favor..? I run my Drone on QGroundControl w/Telemetry and I want to monitor all that on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, 10.1" WiFi only. I have searched the Internet for a supplier of a "Mounting Bracket" to Mount the Tab 2 (Tablet)onto my Flysky FS-i6X Transmitter. Usually, the Bracket Mounts to the Center Piece in between the two joy sticks where the Lanyard would be clipped on and there is a nurled type thumb screw that fits exactly in the round hole and threads into the mounting bracket. I've ordered a couple of these mounting brackets off the Internet and neither one of them line up, there impossible to use, so I've got parts. Would there be a Drone supply house near you where get your parts, where you could take one of your Flysky FS-i6x Transmitters w/you and see if you could get something or a mounting bracket for the Tab 2..? The Bracket needs to open to about 7+" tall, length doesn't matter, but it's 10.1" long. If one is available or something I could use, I'd gladly pay you for your troubles and the parts or bracket if you can find one..? Thanks in Advance, James......
