This is by far the best signal and speeds I've ever got from a router. The sad thing is *_the latest firmware update which was over a year ago, introduced instability_* where it had previously been rock solid for months of uptime. Tonight it did the worst thing again -- completely froze, not even responding via PC direct Ethernet, and when I rebooted it, it LOST ALL SETTINGS and passwords and defaulted to the factory wifi password which is buried on a fucking sticker physically on the router!! So now I have to dig out the fucking thing and then hope I saved a recent config backup otherwise I have to reconfigure the whole fucker again. They were updating the firmware every few months initially, and it sucks the one they stopped with is mildly unstable. It does generally run for several months though. I only have this freeze, reset/loss of settings issue once a year maybe.

Forget that thing - seems like netgear dropped firmware support on this. They don't intend to bring even an OpenVPN update, so you can connect with an Android or iOS device.

NOT SO!! Depending on what service you have Netgears can be used without a modem! I have Fios (fiber optic service) which does not require a modem. I use a Netgear WDRN3700 n600 router, I don't have a modem.

Garbage router constantly drops wifi right out of the box, even with the latest firmware installed. I Google the issue, and see unresolved complaints going back to 2016. This is going back in the box for a refund...
