Heyooo! I love this cute little tail tutorial, but on bit of advice from a fursuit maker try using a blanket stitch instead, it makes it a lot stronger also sew with the direction that the fur fibers point, makes it get hardly anything to remove form seems:) ☀️🔅

Can't wait to use this for my fox tail! Thank you so much. I'll let you know how it goes! I couldn't find a faux tail anywhere, and eventually gave up and now I'm trying to make my own.

You can skip a lot of the brushing the fur out of the seams if you just brush the fur inwards before sewing this will make it a lot easier to get fur outta those dang seams. But over all great tutorial. I do have a question tho wont it be like extremely flat and floppy?
@craftrevue3 жыл бұрын
Good tip! Thanks for sharing :) Yep, this tutorial is for a soft, swishy tail (it's narrow enough that the thick backing of the fur bows out and keeps it from appearing flat)

What if you want to add a curve to the tail? Could you cut an S-shape from the fabric and sew or add wire and stuffing to a straight tail? Looking into making a cougar/mountain lion tail for a costume. Doesn't necessarily need to be faux fur either.
@craftrevue2 жыл бұрын
Hello, Thanks for watching :) To get a curved fur tail I usually just add garden wire to the inside. To keep the tail in a really specific position, you can extend the wire up through the top of the tail, bend it into a loop, and sew the loop flat onto the inside of the waistband. That way the base of the tail has tons of support to keep it place. If you're making it from non-fur fabric and want the tail ultra-smooth looking, an S shape would come in handy for that. Otherwise it might be more trouble than it's worth

And how do you make it more fluffy? I want to make a fluffy fox tail so yeah Hope you answer❤❤
@craftrevue11 ай бұрын
Hi! To make the tail more fluffy you can use the fur against the grain. By that I mean, faux fur lays in one particular direction due to the manufacturing process and you can either let the fur hang in that "natural" direction, or you can flip the fabric the other way so the fur hangs against the natural direction. With a single-color tail like this one, it could simply be worn "upside down" to make it ultra fluffy. Hope this helps!

Is there other ways to attach the tail instead of clothes pins!
@KATastrophics Жыл бұрын
I meant safety pins! English isn’t a first language..
@craftrevue Жыл бұрын
@@KATastrophics Thanks for watching :) You can sew a loop of ribbon into the end of the tail, and that way you can attach the tail by looping it through a belt loop or belt.

So no need to stuff it at all?
@craftrevue2 ай бұрын
The center of the tail is narrow enough that the tail is swishy and round with no stuffing, but if you want to give it a fun shape you could add a little stuffing and a wire to give it structure :)

Can u do this with a sewing machine?
@craftrevue9 ай бұрын
Hello! Yes, you can do this with a sewing machine. I recommend setting the machine to a long stitch length and paying extra attention to where the fur is laying in relation to the seam as you sew, so that there is as little fur stuck in the seam as possible.

@craftrevue Жыл бұрын
@@audreyhart2girlsslime546 yes, you can use a machine :) When I use a machine for the tails, I try to push the fur away from the seam side as I work; trying to comb the hair out of a machine-sewed seam is more difficult than combing hair out of a hand-sewed seam
