I used to sell kirby vacuums and I loved it. But we had one thing drummed into us about what to do before you switch the machine off. Before switching off always raise the head then put it in neutral then switch off. Raising the head before switch off protects the belt the pully and brushroll as raising the head releases the pressure. If you don’t release the pressure you can damage your machine and your carpet. The brushroll stops too suddenly and puts immense stress on the moving parts almost like breaking suddenly in the car

How, if the input torque from the motor is zero? There’s no residual inertia because the belt literally sits on the end of the motor shaft.

yeah that's why I never bothered allowing a salesperson to enter my home... I didn't want to deal with them. They are only there for you until you buy one and they move on, you're dead to them. So I watched videos on KZbin on the Avilar II, and bought one on Ebay, brand new, at a bargain price, and I was golden. Then watched this video for the shampoo part. I love KZbin. Salesmen are so 1987 LOL

Wow thankyou soooo much, I tried my Kirby multi shampoo system last year and did what everyone else did, let the foam sit on the carpet and soak in. I have now followed what you said exactly "work the foam in and do not let it dry on the surface so you can not see any foam left" My carpets are now like brand new and so soft. I have deep pile white carpets and two dogs and was wet shampooing the carpets every two weeks and the carpets would be wet for days after giving off a musty smell. I now did the whole thing and the carpets were clean and dry in three hours, I'm chuffed to bits!!!!!!!!!

1st time using my Kirby Sentria 11 shampooer...this video was of great help! Thanks so much. Upon first using it, I felt like I was at a 'Foam Party' at a disco. FOAM was everywhere! It was on the wallboards, piled up on the carpeting, and all over the machine. But after I got the hang of it, it was actually FUN! And my carpets look so amazing. It took out old stains I was unsure would come out, thinking I may have to replace the carpeting. In addition, my carpets smell fresh and clean, NO harmful chemical smells or fragrances that make my nose go crazy for weeks afterward.

Best thing to do is vacuuming you carpet, you really only need to shampoo once every 1-3 months but the kirby will pull all the heavier particles (sand and grit etc.) and allow the carpet to breath and restore matted down high traffic areas. Once the carpet fibers are free moving you can vacuum and really target all the carpet fiber angles.

Unfortunately for me I have to do it like once a month because I foster dogs and I do not have grass in my back yard due to where I live. So, with the rain lately, they go out, run in the mud, and then trample it all over my carpets. And that does not count the accidents in the house or when I had Giardia run through ALL my dogs. Yup! I’m consistently having to shampoo the freaking carpets in my home. That includes area rugs.

Are you not supposed to use your zipper tool on the stairs or sofas once dry? Reason being is your soleplate on the head gets dirty and also the brush and you’re also at risk of getting the material ( dependent of the materials) caught in the belt in turn burning it.

@terrao4971
@terrao4971 3 жыл бұрын
What I’ve actually learned is that normal carpet cleaners saturate the carpet. That’s why it starts to smell and you have to do it more often because there’s mold growing and it’s just plain gross from the saturated carpet. What’s great and different about Kirby is they have the foam that lightly soaks but doesn’t saturate. In my opinion, Kirby does it the “right” way lol! It’s a pain, but more worth it in the long run.

The shampooer doesn't really "suck" does it? Some water and stuff gets thrown into the tray by the brush or air blowing but it does not actively suck up any water right? I am asking not telling here
@angelfowler-watts1441
@angelfowler-watts1441 3 жыл бұрын
Correct. It does not suck up the water. The machine lays down foam. Once the foam is layer down, turn your foamer off and then just let the brush head work the foam into the carpet by moving your machine in different directions. Then you remove all the attachments and rinse them off and set out to dry. You wait for your carpet to completely dry and then you put on your standard vacuum attachment and vacuum your floor. The dirt will have adhered to the foam and be ready to be lifted out of the carpet. Happy cleaning to you.

Got a Gen3 and a Sentria here. The Gen3 came with a fluffer bar, the Sentria didn't. Is there a difference in quality of the job they do? Never used either for shampooing, but in case I do, what's my best bet? Fluffer bar? No fluffing required?

I have a fluffer bar too but could not find where on the device to attach it. I feel like mine is missing the front lid for the tray too but don't see where I'd attach that either. Mine's like an open faced sandwich.

As the other person said, the N is for Neutral. Use this to push it around when it's not in use. The D is for Drive - this actually helps pull the vacuum along when you are running it and vacuuming.

Pro tip: Use only a THIRD of the recommended amount of detergent in these home machines. The fact they lack the power of truck mounted suction they will leave behind a lot of residual soap on a traditional one or two pass application. Rinse, rinse, rinse with warm water.. Why? Detergents ATTRACT dirt like iron to a magnet. So, ironically the more you soap used the cleaner the carpet is for the moment. However, the more detergent that's left behind in a carpet makes the carpet get dirtier quicker. So use a 1/3 soap then rinse, rinse, rinse with warm water then immediately put a fan on it. Let dry and see where it goes from there. Might have to do it again but better than leaving too much soap behind.

With hot water extraction chemicals there is the risk of leaving surfactants in the carpets and causing rapid resoiling but with the dry foam and encapsulation chemicals, the products dry brittle not sticky so those problems don't happen with this type of chemistry.

WRONG, WRONG, and WRONG!! You do NOT understand how the Kirby carpet shampoo system works, nor do you understand the composition of Kirby carpet shampoo and how IT is designed to work. ALWAYS use the correct, recommended amount of shampoo concentrate, NOT LESS, and the Kirby brand of shampoo works the BEST, so pay the extra cash and use it! Do not make and/or use your own homemade stuff, either; ALL of those recipes call for dish soap or laundry detergent, which WILL cause rapid resoiling, and that's just the beginning; over time, it WILL destroy the carpet as well as your Kirby shampoo system, so don't do it! Failure to use the proper amount of shampoo concentrate WILL result in not getting enough foam, and therefore it cannot clean anywhere near as good as it is intended! Second, with Kirby dry foam shampoo, you NEVER, EVER, rinse the shampoo out with a wet extractor or anything else...do NOT rinse Kirby dry foam shampoo from your carpet! Doing so defeats the purpose of the shampoo; Kirby shampoo is designed to be worked into the carpet thoroughly so the foam can surround the dirt, encapsulate it as it dries into a stiff crystalline powder, so it can then be vacuumed away in the final step, when you vacuum it all once it is dry. This is called "Dry extraction," and this is the step where the dirt is actually removed! Kirby is a low-moisture method that contains NO SOAP, no sticky detergents, only enzymes, fragrance, and surfactants. Because it is not soap or laundry detergent, like "steam" cleaners use (along with copious amounts of hot water that over wets the carpet and leaves sticky residue behind) it does not resoil quickly and it actually contains a dirt repellent to keep it cleaner, longer. Imagine if you washed your laundry and didn't rinse it before drying it....THIS is what "steam" or wet extraction cleaners do, so even if you do rinse and rinse and rinse, you still NEVER get it all out. I cannot believe some of the completely ignorant and flat-out STUPID things some people post online and tell other people to do; their hillbilly ignorance and cheapskate stupidity have no bounds.

You never wanna use the power head while the carpet is still wet , the shampooer works like a vaccum when you turn it off. If there’s a lot of moisture when your using the main power head, your power head will be covered with sand . And the shampoo is dry foam so it takes 15-30 minutes to dry. Use your 4 in 1 to scrub it in there .

Go back to 3:10 on the video. It's cuz you don't want the foam to dry up before you switch it from foaming to working the foam into the carpet. So you work in smaller sections of laying down the foam and working it in. Once it's worked into your entire carpet, you then let it dry for several hours and then vacuum the carpet. Sure it would take days if you had to wait hours between each smaller section, but that's not what's done. Let it completely dry after you've done the whole carpet, then vacuum as usual to lift the dried shampoo and dirt.
