Vacuuming Carpet AND Wooden Stairs With A Converted Kirby Avalir

What makes this cleaning system so unique is the ability to use near 150 CFM on carpeted stairs and around 85 CFM on wooden stairs.

I actually enjoy using the Kirby's hose over my Rainbow's because of the handle being smaller. It's more easier to twist and turn to get in tighter spaces. My Rainbow handles make my hand and wrist tired.

I know it's an old video and comment, but I have to say, as cumbersome as it is, I have both electric and wet/non electric hoses (8' and 14') for my E2 Black and for the smaller attachments I have the choice between the conventional curved wand and I also adapted the wand tube from the Black's electric hose (bought the tube separately) that I use as a stub tube similar to what the Kirby and Numatic Henry has for their handheld attachments, removed that black insulating tape and cut the tube back a bit behind the lip and it works for vacuuming in confined spaces in cars and for cleaning upholstery, dusting, what have you in my place. Of course, it has the bleeder hole, but I just put some electric tape over that.

I can think of a third option for most Generation-style machines. There's the clip-on plate for the power nozzle that allows for hard floor cleaning. I don't know if one is supposed to disable the brush roll but I do it anyway and it has a short fibre brush strip and a tighter slot for this purpose. It works on wide open areas like the kitchen, non carpeted rooms and hallways, bathrooms, basement floors, you name it.

I have a brand new hard floor plate and it's terrible. Kills airflow something fierce.

I use my Sentria 1 to clean stairs, but I don't have the portable handle so I use my upholstery tool to do it. Takes longer because of it's smaller size. I use an aftermarket hose and attachments and the hose is a bit longer then the Kirby one so I can get all but like the last three steps with the Kirby at the bottom of the stairs, so that's nice that I don't have to lug it around with me up or down the stairs.

Great Video Nice to see kirby deep cleaning stairs , alas i can't do stairs on my channel as live in single storey house, though have done video on Kirby vacuuming bamboo flooring, You need to invest in the stretch hose which i showed in video on my channel.

Depending on my mood I'll either vacuum the stairs setting my Sentria up like a giant hand held vac like you did, or I will leave it set up as an upright and use the hose with the zip brush.

Does the zip brush work well for stairs? I can't imagine having to hold my Kirby to do the stairs, it's just too heavy. I watched this video to see how other people used the handler but I was hoping there was an easier way! The zip brush seems like a great idea!

I usually leave the main handle on, lock it in the storage position, turn tech drive off and click it all the way down.

Was anyone else aware that Rexair released the next generation Rainbow called the SRX? I found one video of someone doing a demo and it looks amazing! You no longer detach the power unit from the basin instead it simply flips up and the hose connects to the unit via a magnet. The power nozzel was redesigned to include an all mental brushroll although it didn't appear to have replaceable brush strips. The trigger lock on the handle is gone because apparently someone got injured during a service appointment. Anyone got one to send to Vac Lab for testing? Lol Bill, why does the Avalir have less hose suction than the Sentria? I thought the Avalir numbers were better than the Sentria.

I have my custom 2 speed G5 with newest mini emptor from Avalir can you do compre cfm test original emtor vs Avalir emtor? I appreciate it.

While I don't test emptors by themselves, I have swapped entire emtor/bag/filltube assemblies and found that the Sentria II over the G5 increased the CFM almost 10% (12 CFM). If your G5 originally had around 125 CFM, just swapping the emptor may only give you an estimated 5 CFM bump.
