I would augment this to "Copy to Library" then select "New Library" in the media section, if you choose a different location, select not to copy media. The new library will open unlinked, relink the media back to where you have it, once that is done, THEN consolidate into THAT library. We do this so we have the original library intact and it is indeed a copy you are sending to the other editor and not the original.

hey so if I have my media on a shared dropbox folder, both editors have downloaded and can access the media locally, should we send xml files or compressed libraries? There's no way I'm sending a library with original media. Too big. What do you think? There's so many ways to do this, another option is to send over proxies as well. Trying to figure out the best way. I can't share the actual fcpx library over Dropbox, as dropbox file structure/system is real time and corrodes fcpx files... I have to compress and send. Any insight would be much appreciated!

@@dylanjohndickerson I would absolutely LOVE to see if there's an easy way to reduce wind noise in final cut! Most of my videos are outside while I'm paddling, so wind is inevitable, and I've spent a lot of time trying to fix bad audio. Yes, I know I should be using a good microphone with a dead cat... but I didn't when I was on my 4-month canoe trip last year unfortunately, and now I would like to salvage as much audio as I can - especially the video that also has me talking in it! Please tell me FCP has an easy tool I haven't found yet!
@dylanjohndickerson
@dylanjohndickerson 2 жыл бұрын
@@AmyOutdoors That's a tough one. As far as I know, there's not a lot you can do with audio that's destroyed by wind. It seems like you're aware that a dead cat will be the call for next time, but as for the footage you recorded in the canoe, maybe you could try and cut out frequencies using 'Channel EQ' in your effects browser. I'm not sure exactly though.

Yeah, thanks Dylan. I found another KZbinr who cleared it up. I had to change to Computer on settings to an mp4 file to lower its size, reduce the the pixel size, and then compress it. I sent it to myself after that and it came through as a QuickTime video and played fine. Thanks. It was difficult to find a video on how to do this step by step. Hint….

That seems like way more work than most people do. Just export it with one of the options to make it an .mp4. Not sure why you’d need to compress it unless you really want to lose quality to make it a small file

I'm going crazy :( I have to share a fcp project with another cutter to finish it. But it happens that the plugins (such as CamRig, Adjustmentlayer or others from envato) are either grayed out in the timeline or it simply does not apply the set parameters. I always send him the plugins beforehand and he installs them successfully before opening the project - he only sees WHERE I placed them, but they don't work. I would be super thankful for any ideas :(

BUT, this process would involve the editor you are sending the library to have the original assets associated with the project, correct? In order to re-transcode the media, they need the media.
