I have seen this done several times. The history of doing goes back to times when communities or towns didn't have bells to ring in celebrations. Sometimes you will hear this referred to as "Ringing an Anvil". I couldn't hear it in this video, but when shot, the anvil will ring like a bell, hence the ringing would mark a celebration. You may notice that the base of his anvil was hollowed out for the power. I have only seen your usual anvil, like a blacksmith would have had, and they are flat on the bottom. It was not mentioned in the video, but the last part is the hardest work. Upon landing, the anvil may bury itself 1-2 feet in the ground. It has to be dug out of the ground. This man has done this A LOT, so don't try this at home. If you know what your doing, you can aim them to go straight up and straight down. This harkens back to the days of the blacksmith.
