Thanks for good overview! Now I would like to ask a question. If I set a shutter speed and move ISO up and down and when I cannot get into good range I add ND filter then how do I know when the exposure is good? Do I just judge by display? It can be done when I calibrate my eye by watching the display with camera on auto but there may be a better method? Maybe I set the max ISO above the point when the display stops getting brighter so the ISO can then control in that limited range? Thanks for reply if possible

Thinking of getting a camera for an upcoming holiday. In my mind it’s just to capture the streets, sights and maybe a bit of underwater fun in Malta while I’m with the family. Is this still a good option to consider in 2023? I was very tempted to get the 360 Flow due to ticking all the boxes bar underwater. Many thanks for your content 👌

Much better is to use ND, keep the 180 degree shutter, always set WB based on location and always use Wide, just remove it in post

@MountMediaChannel

Thx Antonio. I used Wide only for the scenes that I shot in 2.7K/100. For that combo Linear is not available. Cheers

I normally just make a few pans in both directions and then choose the best one - you can invert the direction in post

Are the videos of you skiing produced at a frame rate of 25fps as well? Or do you produce at a higher frame rate for sports?
@MountMediaChannel

Well, it depends. Many times I shoot at 4K/50 or 2.7K/100 for a possible slow motion.

It depends on how cold it is - when on the skilift I suggest putting the gopro in your jacket pocket - this will help a lot.

Could you please be more specific on PAL region vs NTSC? As I understand, for PAL it is 25FPS and 34 (23.976)FPS for NTSC. Is this difference really noticable? If I would be shooting 24FPS with my GoPro 8 in PAL region, and in post, also will export 24FPS, then how and where this difference could be seen? Thnks
@MountMediaChannel
@MountMediaChannel 4 жыл бұрын
No, there would be no difference. If you live in a PAL region you should normally shoot with 25fps, at least if you are shooting with artificial light. In natural light it makes no difference. I just don't want to mix things up. Therefore I always shoot with 25/50 fps.
@CheeseOnEverything
@CheeseOnEverything 4 жыл бұрын
the difference is your audio will slowly go out of sync if you shot pal and then dropped it into a ntsc timeline cuz with every second, you're dropping one frame
@kikowow82
@kikowow82 4 жыл бұрын
MountMedia So, basically it is related to frequency in power outlet?! 50Hz in PAL and 60Hz in US? Therefore the light source if not in line with FPS will give that blinking effect?!

MountMedia This FPS setting was still bothering me, as I was unable to see 25FPS mode in my GoPro Hero 8. So, eventually I have found out the setting that affects FPS option in Hero 8. It is Anti Flickering mode 50Hz or 60Hz selection in settings tab! When 50Hz is selected, then you can choose between 25FPS and 24FPS. In case 60Hz selected, then only 24FPS available.

never leave your white balance on auto. it seems fine when you're outside and in consistent light, but if you were to transition between indoors and outdoors with tungsten and florescent lighting, your colors are gonna change, ruining your shot.
