If I had that flash I probably wouldn't take any photos. I'd just keep triggering it at 10 fps and grin from ear to ear! 😁

Ok, awesome. Next episode should be the same but how to do it with a normal budget. Like the fire episode.
@Dragoslav_MD10 жыл бұрын
What exactly is "normal budget" for you? 99% of cost here is a camera, lenses and flash...
@Dragoslav_MD10 жыл бұрын
You could probably get similar results with much cheaper equipment but it would take much more time and much more shots to get great ones.
@MikaelMadsen10 жыл бұрын
Dragoslav Miljević I guess folks following the channel already have a camera, so 99% of the cost would be a professional flash. So maybe you should look up exactly what the price of that flash is they are using. Maybe, just maybe. People with no own studio want to try this and could use some tips and pointers on what gear and so on should be used.

You "blow 10 grand" if you ditch everything after shooting. I'm pretty sure they kept everything. And... This is a promo video which got 275k hits, so they'll make money out of it. And... Even if they do NOT make money out of it... they'll make it anyway 'cause it's adv for their shop.

Take a look at Priolite M-Pack 1000 Hotsync, they are Portable @1000Ws! Possible Cam Sync is 1/8000s (or 1/16000s @ 1D Mark1). So you can freeze with a wide open aperture and the best you can use it outside of the Studio

BTW who invented stroboscopic photography? As far as I know, it was MIT Engineering Professor Harold "Doc" Egerton who did the first milk drop crown, bullet through balloon, and more seriously "freeze frame" images of the exploding first A-bomb at Alamogordo test site.
@johnmichaelleslie483510 жыл бұрын
I'd have thought you might get somewhere just using a fairly powerful flash (600EX-ish) set to its dimmest manual setting (plus having a very dim option, at least 1/16th and ideally lower) and shooting in a darkened room. Then adjust the power upwards to see the most light that still freezes motion to an adequate degree. Flashes only have one brightness level and change the amount of light they output by how long they are on (as even the longest setting is still shorter than the time the shutter is open). Hence setting a flash to manual at 1/128th power will give a pretty short pulse of light. A Canon 580EX at 1/128 gives something around 1/35,000 sec, even 1/16th is circa 1/15,000 - plus you still have 127/128 or 15/16 of the energy left in the capacitor, so will be ready for the next shot pretty quickly. Full power is 1/833 sec BTW. (I have 580EXIIs, but ran across the numbers for the original gun first. Ah, and just found the II is pretty much the same.)

When you're going this fast, you don't really have a choice. Human reflexes can't make these shots happen. Even in the film days, you would use a camera with a super fast drive and tons of rolls of film.

To the people complaining about the cost of the flash... You do know you can rent gear right? In the US at least, there are quite a few places you can rent gear from, even over the internet, that will allow you to rent by the day or just for a weekend. You wouldn't have to actually buy the strobe/lighting seen in this video to get a chance to use it. If you really wanted to do a photoshoot like this, get a small group of friends/photographers to pool a bit of cash and rent the gear (1 person isn't likely to use it 24 hours a day for 3 days) . If you had a few people chip in and already had cameras, you could do this for well under 200 dollars each. Not cheap, but if you were serious about building a portfolio or something, it wouldn't be too far out of reach, and it would be a cool experience working with the pro gear.

Jaime Duarte 2 not nikon or canon is fine but let's make it fair. FF vs macro four third? It's like comparing SUV with a track car.
@RareMade10 жыл бұрын
Cheng Hoo Sew Thats true but i just wanted to see 4K quality to decide which i want so i can have options you know what i mean and ive heard you cant shoot 4K internally with the a7s so just wanted to see since i wanted help with a comparison video
@ChengHooSew10 жыл бұрын
THExRARE if you're getting one for 4k shooting I think the Panasonic is better. I'm an a7 fans here and actually own an a7r but the Panasonic just more flexible when shooting 4k although 7s clearly have better low light performance. But like you said it can't internally record 4k. And I think it have the 30mins limit as well. Not sure about it.
